Well I'm really looking forward to the Mont Blanc tunnel and my brief jaunt through the Alps. As well as my epic trek through France. But it's going to be some effin drive!
I'm also not happy with the amount of toll roads in mainland Europe. Its pants.
Does anyone here have experience driving through France who could help me out? It seems to be brimming with them. Or has anyone had experience driving in Italy?

Am I wrong in thinking that this is huge and potentially career making?

Ann Leckie is coming to Oslo on the 19th for a talk about AI with Ørjan Karlson at Deichmanske, and she's coming to Outland on the 20th for a book signing, which means I get to meet her!

Also, I have been made project manager for a huge translation project Outland has started. So far, it's only me and one other person, but I'm hoping to expand very soon!



Oh, and I wrote the ending to my book! Now I just need all that pesky stuff in the middle...

Nice one! The ending is the hardest part. Once you know how it all ends and how it starts, the filling comes much easier.

The faculty association in my university wants to start a motion of no confidence in the board of governors, which makes me happy because they are a bunch of rich people and bank representatives trying to make the university a business. Also a bunch of racists who ran off the first POC to become the university's president. The petition they have started reads kinda creepy and gives me the spooks. Bonus Points!

Standard Norwegian Keyboard has Å, Æ, Ø keys. Other Scandinavian countries have of course different versions of the letters, e.g. The Swedish Mööse.

Now I want to have my computer play the Ø-sound. That would make me happy. My surroundings might disagree, though. Ponders.

the med degree decided to pick up in sem 2 7am-5pm days this week...not including that i have to do most studying "independent learning" after too. so im half dead. but played footy for the first time in a year and a half this week (rampant shin splints and chest/breathing issues meant i couldn't play properly) and IM SO HAPPY missed it so much. that and i went gym every day this week and got a lie in today and saw all my fam today (came home from uni this weekend) means i am a content fellow

So it's D-day tomorrow. Leaving at about 5am.
Got stop over at a friends in Diss, Norfolk (or Suffolk - who cares?) to grab around 8 hours sleep.
Then it's up and off to catch Le Shuttle for 1.20am.
So I've got from about 3am CET until no later that 8pm, to get from Calais to Faenza.
I realise it's seat of the pants stuff, but I've made an itinary that breaks it up into 4 segments.
I'm hoping the scenery and novelty (and that lovely French coffee) will keep me going.
I'll be flaking out pretty much as I get there, got to start Wednesday morning 8.30.
WOW.
This is going to kill me
I've just said good bye to my folks over Sunday roast and it's starting to get real now.
Putting the kids to bed is going to be the worst.....
