In spite of the Iranian referees best efforts, Australia won the Asian Cup final against South Korea in an absolute nailbiter.

2:1 in extra time. :wallbash: :)

Although letting SK get the equaliser a minute into injury time at the end wasn't great for my heart. :)

And to those who think we shouldn't be in the Asian Cup ...

I don't know if you have twitter or care about it at all, but if you do (or if you just want to visit it independently) you should check out astronaut Reid Wiseman's feed. He's constantly posting amazing photos (you can dig through his past tweets for many while he was on the space station, he just came back to earth in November): https://twitter.com/astro_reid
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Amazon just showed up with a book and a CD. Since they switched from Royal Mail to private courier their service has really come on.

Also had a cooked breakfast this morning, and now carrying on with the book, which is picking up speed again (I reckon in terms of overall ideas I'm about 40% of the way through book 1 of a planned trilogy).

I still don't get armour rugby. From an outsider's perspective, it appears that a chap says some numbers and words, throws a rugby ball and then a lot of burly men perform charging cuddles at one another, and this then repeats further down the field.

I'm led to believe that, like beer, it's an acquired taste.

Some friends of mine were all over the news here in Cork this weekend for basically outing a con-artist & registered sex offender who was targeting the drama and film community here. The guy had arrived into the city a few months ago, promising to start up all sorts of projects. He did a few legit things like organise a few industry get-together evenings, and even a free screenwriting course. But because Cork is so small, and people talk, his bullshitty stories put a few people on alert, and they were dogged in following up on their suspicions. I was mildly suspicious, but couldn't have imagined his actual background.

And late last week they managed uncover the fact that the guy was a serial con artist and convicted sex offender in the UK, was here under a false name, and had failed to notify the police of his presence here. So even though he skipped town on thursday morning, the Gardaí managed to apprehend him in Tralee on thursday night. So two thumbs up for amateur sleuthing.

The good news is that he was stopped before anything really bad happened, especially as he had been lining up auditions for child actors and singers/performers for next week, under the guise of running a talent agency.

Happy that social media was used for a positive cause.

That is such a good thing, Binder of Demons.

I'm snowed in while in the greatest city on earth (NYC) in my gf's apartment. My car is safely parked and I've shoveled it out easily. I have movies, food and beer. I also have a job in which the boss told me to stay down here until tomorrow morning.

Dang, life is pretty ok right now.

My wife utterly spoiled me last night with a homemade birthday dinner, the BOND 50 BluRay set, a remote control K-9 for my DW collection...and then we drank wine and watched Sean Connery be badass in high def DR. NO.

It's was a pretty stellar damned night!
