Finished a film course last year and have been trying to get some kind of employment in that area while remaining in Ireland (which limits me severely but need to stay for family reasons).
So after many job applications, and a few interviews for jobs i didn't even want to get, I managed to convince a production company to take me on for 6-9 months. We're sorting out the exact details in the next few days, but they rang me today to give me the thumbs up. Delighted with myself, cos they're willing to let me get involved with every step of the process, from meeting the client through to the editing, whereas most jobs i had come across were very restrictive (like 99% editing).
So hopefully, in about 6 months time, I'll have the experience of finishing a bunch of projects, which I can then put into practice for a few of my own short film and documentary ideas.
Super happy with myself. And relieved, cos I now have a job. Yay.
