I donated my giant Lego collection to my little cousin for exactly this purpose: no child should miss out on a Lego childhood.

Got two kittens, who we've named Kalam and Quick. They're adorable. Been in a really low rut lately, so their company is extra welcome.

Damnit KL, you aren't a movie star.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I can't tell if I'm happy about what she's doing, or upset that she has to do it, but Wendy Davis is currently filibustering a pro-life abortion bill that is absolutely ridiculous... she has been going at it for 5 hours already, and has to keep going until midnight (a total of 13 hours). She has to stay on topic, and is not allowed to go to the bathroom, eat, or drink until she's done. They took her chair, so she has to keep standing too.

I just. Wow. What a bamf. I just hope her filibuster works. ;_____;

Also, all the tweets in support of her and womens' rights are making me happy. c:

As far as I can tell, she stood almost the entire 13 hours still they started nailing her on technicalities, and a whole bunch of procedural stuff went down to end the filibuster. But now with <10 minutes left, the crowd is disrupting the session to get past the midnight deadline. It's kind of incredible. So ahhh... they are trying to vote right now on the bill, which is against Texas constitution.

As far as I can tell this means anyone who votes can be recalled and removed from office, yes?

They are claiming they did a vote at 11:59pm(CST) and the bill was passed. They claim to have voted using 1 finger for Aye and 2 for Nay.

I'm seeing different claims that they voted past midnight and said the "cheering disrupted the clock." ??? Either way, I believe Dems will move to appeal tomorrow.

UGH.

AP already declaring it over and SB5 passed ("Reporters and Democrats saw the voting begin after midnight, but Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst said it began just before.") while Texas Tribune reporting that nothing is certain at the moment (http://www.texastrib...n-wan/#liveblog).

Yeah... and then there's the fact some didn't even know what they were voting on.

I mention that because the AP story is, obviously, spreading like wildfire and yet is beyond premature in its conclusions. That in itself isn't making me happy right now, but I'm fairly sure they're gonna have to walk a lot of it back...at least one Senator (Whitmire) claimed the vote timestamp was 12:02AM, and there's no way this isn't going to be challenged one way or another.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
