I was going to attack England and leave France alone when Aryin had to go, and decided to be nice to the newbie by giving him some time to figure out the game.

Very little learned from mafia is relevant to diplomacy... But that might be

Sorry, figured you'd expect unpredictability from the new guy...sounds like a lot of that went on in the last game, anyway .
I've been betrayed a couple of times since then, so I guess what goes around comes around...

Er, tonight is a build deadline, not a moves deadline, right?

Army in St Petersburg? What on earth would be the point of that build... the game is afoot, methinks?

If people are going to ignore the deadlines completely, what's the point of even having them?
Seriously, get a fucking grip

What bugs me is that Turkey in the early game got severely crippled by missing a deadline, and now in retrospect it's not fair to him.

I did thinkt hat was the point of deadlines - its a cut off point. Any later and you miss the go, end of.

Personally I agree, I'd only extend the deadline if a significant number of people missed it as in this turn for 3.0, which made me think that I might have done something wrong, if one person misses the deadline (unless he gets a message in before hand saying wait a few minutes please) then I woudl resolve without them after a brief enquiry period, otherwise the game just drags.

Hmm...well I'm a little confused by some of Russia and Ukraine's moves down South, a distinct lack of communication there, I think. I guess DiBs was rushed for time, I mean Wbs Supports Ank Hold? Seems ridiculous to me. They could have taken Iran too if they'd got their stuff together...
