Of all the popular gods who have had no impact on the story so far, which do you believe is most likely to suddenly become important in the last couple books?

If you really feel like explaining your choice, go for it.

Abyss. Not the brain eating cat (though SE is known to be a fan so he could yet make an appearance).

Anyway, ABYSS. It's another name that is used as a curse/blessing throughout the series (even by some of the most powerful figures we've seen). And i have a feeling we will see some manifestation of The Abyss before the end (or AT the end!).

beru and nerruse are interesting because they are gods of the sea in a way, yet they have no actual claim on the seas and oceans which is maels realm. they seem like children that mael humours until they piss him off

The Abyss, to my knowledge, isn't at any point described as being sentient or interested in mortal affairs. The Abyss is a place, not an element or an intelligent being. What you're talking about is like saying that you'd expect Hell or Heaven or Hades, the places themselves, to be intelligent.

The Abyss is like a continent or the moon or the pocket in your pants, it doesn't have to be more abstract than that.

I expect that we might ctually get to see Mowri, seeing as ...she? has been mentioned as having taken a side in the Pantheon war. Allthough, what the patron of beggars can do is a good question.

@ Aptorian - Considering many of the elemental beings seem to be manifestations of abstract ideas, then I don't see why the concept of the Abyss won't make an appearance at some point.

It's something that has been nagging me for a while now considering the number of references to it throughout the series. Like I said earlier, it even gets used as a curse by some of the elder beings. And that leads to the argument of whether you have an entity/god that represented the Abyss in the past whose memory lingers on, or you could have an entity/god come into being from a kind of worship. For some reason in my mind i am associating mother dark/father light and chaos/ the abyss as opposite ends of the universes creation/destruction mythos. But this is probably something for the crazy theories thread rather than a poll.

Gedderone may make a small introduction to provide some welcome relief from the bitter infection and war that is taking place in the pantheon. Saying that I believe it is too idealistic an idea.

@ Binder I see your point, but there is nothing 'elemental' about the Abyss, so I'm afraid that I gotta side with Apt.

I voted for Mowri as we know that god has joined the House of Chains, so seemed most likely to feature to me.

It's been argued that Agayla is actually Jhess, Mistress of Weaving, has it not?

And I believe Shedenul is another name for Soliel (a GOTMism), who we saw in The Bonehunters.

Yeah, I've always thought of The Abyss as SE's version of Hell.

Not sure. I think they were listed seperately in the Glossary, and that was the only mention of Shedenul we ever get, and as such we tend to forget Shedenul even exists, except when the occasional character says "Shedenul's mercy!" or some such...

As far as I remember Shedenul is listed together with Soliel/is said to be another name for Soliel. And out of all the useless gods who aren't likely to get some major role in teh forthcoming books, imnsho, she's most likely to show up again, 'cause she kind of got f*cked with by Paran in BH and I remember having the slight feeling that she's not yet done with.

..as I said earlier in another poll: I'm bored.
