Pedantic War Bear Gods need love too?

I take several things from this exchange:

1. Spirit magic/witchery seems to relate to Burn
2. There are a lot of War Gods
3. War Bear God will make another appearance, a la Quru Kan, Imperial Ceda at another important juncture.
4. The whole "wolf & bear" quote makes me believe that Semar Dev is more powerful than S.E. would originally have had us know, and very similar to Seren Pedac in that respect.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Uhm... wasn't the bear mortally wounded or outright killed by one of the Hounds?

I think it was just plain weird that bear god showing up. Karsa and Dassems reaction to its first apperance was equally strange.

At first I just thought it was one of Eriksons funny ideas, like Detoran and the Bull in MoI.

well the bear was pretty torn up, but then dev captured its soul in that nifty little knife of hers.

And was there not some kind of mention of Ms Dev being a priestess or somesuch of Burn at some stage? If memory serves, she was not exactly thrilled at the idea.

That was Tulas Shorn who said that... Tulas seems to know a bit, but I don't know how how coherent its thought processes are anymore...

I took it that the Pedantic War Bear was there because Burn wanted Samar Dev protected during the convergence.

- Abyss, not to be pedantic or anything...

Then do you think she's not quite as asleep as we think she is...? Waking up perhaps?

considering the stuff thats been goin on i'd say she is very close to waking up... in MoI brood lost his temper and raised a mountain range, then QB and pannion froze her large intestine or whatever. in tBH a bunch o jade statues thudded into the earth, granted heboric mitigated that some, but it was still a big shock. i expect burn to wake up once the CG's poison is gone

I don't think those statues really made contact. If their impact destroyed! the moon, then the impact of those 12(?) jade statues would have had a massive affect on Wu.

Her servants rescued QB in MoI. various priests and mages still draw on her, hence, she is active in SOME way. She's a goddess... no reason to think a little thing like a multi-millenial coma is going to completely remove her from events.

Or a new "Sleeping Goddess" when Burn dies... Mhybe, perhaps, in her newly created pocket of a dream, complete with Togg and Fanderay?

I sincerely hope that's not the case. I can't abide that *gnashing teeth, spitting noises, tears hair out* excuse for a woman. You had a kid and she sucked the life from you. Get over it, it's what they all do... :) *cough* sorry.
'Tell me, Tool, what dominates your thoughts?'
The Imass shrugged before replying. 'I think of Mafia, Adjunct.'
'Do all Imass think about Mafia?'
'No. Few think at all.'
'Why is that?'
The Imass leaned his head to one side and regarded her. 'Because, Adjunct, they are sheeple.'

Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?" ... and then it hits me.

I think we will see Samar Dev evolve into a reluctant priestess of Burn. It has already been mentioned that it seems any form of spirit magic not using Aral Gamelon (Path of Demons) or Hood's Path (guess its not his path anymore lol), is directly related to Burn.

As to the bear, a thought just occured to me. Perhaps it woke up because it sensed someone who would remember it? After all the mentioning of time, and history in TtH, I think its plausible.

It was an Okral de lom, I think. There was a Kron Bonecaster with that name, minus le. Perhaps the bear is like Baaljag, a god taking a normal form.

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

I don't think that's a perhaps, I think that's outright stated in TtH isn't it?

Ok yeah what's the deal there. I was under the impression that the moon was destroyed by the Jade statues too...

only in RG it's back, and then in TtH it gets destroyed again because moons being destroyed is hardcore!

is there more than one moon in Wu? Is THAT what I'm missing here?
