The Azath Builder

Either someone has already asked this question or we are told in the book but I missed it for there is no thread that I can find about the Azath Builder that Nimander meets.
Who is he? Has he been named? I remember Icarium's companion philosophising about the nameless ones and the builder of the Azaths in RG but are there any hints elsewhere?
Failing hard evidence, are there any weird theories?

i don't think he's been mentioned but i think he'll be talked about in the final two books as gothos seemed to be very annoyed about him being released maybe he's one of those things that were in the burn that quick ben met and he'll go back there or he could just be a relative of hers

Hes an EG. The things in Burn were servants of Burn. Theres been a couple of threads on this or atleast dealing with this. Try using the search function. Although tbh theres not much to tell this was a completely new character

Some variety of TTT is my guess. I might reread that bit later.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I'd agree, for some reason the description reminded me a male version of Kilimandaros

Maybe they do. And because he is lost they can simply do what they want ijn his absence just like the Jhistal and Mael

Perhaps hes the version of K'rul for the elder warrens, using azath rather than dragons.
As to the rest, he lives near me, made my house, hes a builder and his name is bob(can he fix it? NO. But if you want a god enslaving tower...)

That bit was confusing. He seemed very childlike.
until he started building.. He was, it seemed almost two different entities. One when he was building and one when he was not.. I would think he contains a force, sentient or not that comes to the fore when he builds..

Sounds like Icarium. Maybe the Azath builder also has a chaos infection.
Maybe the Azath builder is Icarium's sanity/memory? Like the Transcendent One in Planescape Torment.

I get the impression the AB is older than Iccy.
Perhaps he is kept childish to stop him unleashing his full potential, except when building, when that is his only purpose.

I don't think he is a "god" per se, simply Elder as are all the things dealing with the Azath. We know the Azath use, errr, entities? to fulfill those purposes that immobile domiciles cannot obviously do, so I think he was an answer to a question of "how do Azath Houses form?".
Am I the only person thinking that he was in the process of constructing the Azath at the gate to Starveld Demelain in that "Refugium"?

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Raises a tricky question though... if he is being used by the azath then which came first the azath or the builder?
Also that entire realm appeared to be within dragons blood right?

The nameless ones are definitely aware of the AB. Tarack Veed (excuse spelling) one of their fairly lowly servants mentions him in a POV in RG (I think just before Karsa meets Icarium). If the nameless ones know about him surely more informed entities such as Rake, K'rul etc. are aware of him.......

We do not know much about the Azath, but we cannot say for sure that they are nothing more than the Houses. It could well be the case that the Azath is something more, and the builder was created/contracted at a later point to create the worldly manifestations of the Houses.
I'm not sure how this jibes with the fact that the Houses are alive.

Nimader's experience in the gate may have been figurative in some sense. That the damage to his hands carried over means there was something real to it all, but even so, exactly what happens to a 'House' when the Builder is done with it is unclear. Gothos hinted he had others too.
We've seen Azath show up where an entity needed to be cotnroled (GotM), pop up from seeds (RG) and even die of old age (MT), so obviously there's more going on that just a house built of bricks. In some fashion, the Builder's work is tied in, and as well, Gothos is somehow involved.
- Abyss, already had trouble with where babies come from...
