Apsalar wasn't trained as an assassin. Her abilities are remenants of Cotillion dating back from his possession of her. She was "trained" by Cotillion's former life.

Well, Cotillion was trained as an assassin, or learned how to become an assassin. Apsalar trains Cutter, or at least he learns from watching her.

@Faf: I doubt it. Cutter, nay, Crokus has come full circle. He has never been particularly ambitious, rather he has been over-romantic. He's been fairly whiny, has got some nice action, and now he is out to return to the woman he loves to prove that he learned that he didn't need to imitate her to win her esteem.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

They don't want him to become a killer, which they both obviously are. They don't want to see a person they like become a cold-blooded murderer like they are, not because they don't think he can be good at it, but because they don't want to see his potential ruined like that.

The last thing he did was attempt to fight off the Hounds of Light from taking Dragnipur to some unknown ascendant. He's going to go find Apsalar and make assassin babies. He doesn't seem broken, if anything he is mended. Thus, Crokus, and not Cutter.

Kalam was a BB before he became a Claw. They hired him as a guide to find the escaped mages, one of which was Quick. That trek through the desert created the Bridgeburners and at the end of that trek was when he and Quick joined them.

No he was a claw first.

In MOI when WJ tellsRake the story with QB he starts of the story saying ' We had a guide. A former bodyguard to the holy Falahd and recently recruited into the Claw...'
