Why would Magora +/- Ardata heal Mappo. This seems to have been an enormously potent ritual devoted to the healing of an individual who is now peripheral to the story line.

read on, I certainly wouldn't say he's peripheral, I expect him to play a major role.

As I expected - both from my own reading, and from your response.
I was bummed out when he got munched and thus separated from Icarium. But he seems like a pretty lethal fellow and I'd like to see him in action again.

Well, Mappo is a powerfull player in the games of the gods, perhaps even ascended, and he generally works for the common good. He's needed to find Iccy and rain him in. Unescorted Icarium = BAD!
