You telling us you couldn't fall in love with Dawn French? There is so much woman there!

Don't care about ethnicity -- we're not casting any blue people, after all.
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

Tattersail = sensuous, shrewd, jaded. Dawn French evokes none of these qualities.

Sorry, I'm selling Dawn French as Tattersail. Summer Glau is (IMHO) the only choice for Apsalar. She's right in terms of appearance, and more important she's played all sorts of physical roles before and would be absolutely believable as an assassin princess.

I'm still going w/ Renee Zellwegger in Bridget Jones mode for Tattersail. Though I think she's said she'll never do that again. But I think we all agree that this is nothing mroe than a mental exercise anyway. :(

I do like Keifer as WJ a lot.

She is an _actress_. She can evoke whatever she damn well likes, as she's a pretty fine actress in straight roles. I think she'd be an excellent Tattersail.

There is another contender for Apsalar who IMO is far more suitable, i've said it before and i'll say it again....,

Maggie Q ( Timothy Olyphant's naughty girlfriend in the 4th Die Hard flick)

She ticks all the boxes, Kung Fu, ethnicity, moody and most importantly, fit.

Tattersail is a toughie though, she's supposed to be a bit of a tubby MILF ?

Hmmmm, Amanda Donohue ?

Oh and Scott Glen was born to play Kallor. :)
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.
Just look at em' now, already pullin' the plow. So quick to take to grain, like some old mule.

Micky Rourke needs to be somewhere...an avowed Crimson or some Old-Guard :) OR, one of the Fener boys who got a golden tan..yes, I can see that.

Dawn French gets my vote though I would quite like to see Garry Oldman as Fidler. You all seem to have the major players pretty well covered so I will take a stab at the others.
I also agree that Rourke is Old Guard or Avowed...he could play any number of them.
Alan Rickman is soooooo Raest in Azath mode! "I shall call him Tiddles"
Ron Pearlman would make a great Greymane
Andy Serkis could be errr...wazisname... Squad mage with own Mother's hairy shirt?
Spite for me, lovely as Angelina is, would have to be Salma Hayek She is gorgeous, can pout but be mean as well.
Terence Stamp as Kallor anyone?
Adam Sandler with a spade and a couple of sharpers in Waterboy mode mode looks like Jamber Bole to me.. with a few added warts and whatnot.
That's all for now, going to get soem shut-eye!

Alright geezers and geezetes,

I just finished reading TTH. Now Im a long time listener but i figured time for me to start posting so here goes. Casting a black character as Shadowthrone does not fit for me, it just does not:

Here are some of my picks:

Quick Ben: Skinny and black but intelligent: I'd go with that Indian Guy from Heroes, Dr Suresh. I think he can pull it off. Still I dont think theres any actor apart from possibly Jonny Depp who could pull this off.
Kalam: Big, Quick, black, and strong: What about Wesley Snipes? Or perhaps
Silchas Ruin: the bad guy from Hellboy 2. He's what I thought Silchas would look like. You know the prince of the elves from Hellboy 2 aka the main villain.
Kallor: Clint Eastwood would have fit it perhaps 10 years ago but now I'd say Jeremy Irons is best pick so far, hes a complex character is Kallor as his POV in TTH shows, there is a good side to him, if you can call that, Spinnock Durav commented on that which just angered Kallor but his anger and anguish was more from the fact Spinnock was right. For Kallor, J.Irons or perhaps Brian Cox when he made Manhunter. Hmmm or maybe Denethor from LOTR.
Crokus/Cutter: Heath Ledger would have been good,
Traveller: Clive Owen, or perhaps Ed Norton
Apsalar: Kate Beckingsale is a damn good choice.
Whiskeyjack: Mel Gibson or Russel Crowe
Dujek:
Bugg: Micheal Caine
Shadowthrone: Gary Oldman
Tehol Beddict: Bill Murray
Iron Bars: Keifer Sutherland

What you guys think?

And who plays Hetan?

Gotta find parts for these:

Famke Janssen (Tattersail? I'm still going for Dawn French)
Rachel Weisz (Masan Gilani, or Hetan)
Sam Worthington (would make an excellent Paran, IMO)

Billy Bob Thornton would be a pretty mean Kallor. I reckon he could pull it off. I would definitely say NO to Crowe or Gibson for WJ, my vote would be for Tim Roth. :)

I love Tim Roth as an actor. But honestly, he's too frail-looking to be WJ. Could you really believe he was a former mason, life-long soldier and battle-hardened enough to have been considered for Emperor by the troops before Pale and all-else? Tim Roth to be is good for an intellectual or sneaky role.

Mos Def for QB? Before you laugh, he's done some serious roles in Indie Films that have been well received.

OK, maybe skin colour would be a little wrong, but i think the guy who plays Saeed (sp??) on Lost would be perfect for Kalam. Also, Morgan Freeman would make a perfect Shadowthrone, and Cristof Lamber a v good Cotillion.

Have not gone through entire thread but as for who should play Kallor it is Scott Glenn or no one at all.*

*that's the guy in 'Vertical Limit' and 'Buffalo Soldiers'

I think he'd be a pretty damn good Quick, good call. Big fan of Mos Def.

Clint Eastwood would be one of the best Kallor's IMO, he's got some of the gaunt-ness that I picture Kallor having, and the attitude.

I'm pretty sure Kallor has a wallet that says 'Bad Motherfucker', though
"Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

Definitely not Jackson.
More like Sir Ian McKellen

And no, I don't care about the fairly obvious arguments against this. He's the only motherfucker bad enough to play him...
