Traveller = Christian Bale

Dude, traveller is sort of...black..Baleman would make a better Cotillion.

I would had Dom DeLouise as Kruppe.
River T...I mean Summer Glau as Apsalar (besides the whole fishing village that Sorry/Aps came from reminds me of Asian fishing villages anyway).
I bit ago I would have agreed with Christian Bale as Traveller but I dont think I can handle a Batman-Traveller.
Daniel Day Lewis as Kallor
Bruce Willis as Whiskeyjack
the dude that plays Sayid from Lost as Kalam or Quick Ben

Sayid is tiny compared to Kalam, who's described as a bear more often than not, and he's too sad to be QB.

The rest of your suggestions: Quite good

Bale shouldnt play anyone. He's just a rubbish actor, he gets upstaged by everyone. He could play a minor part and sit in the background without ruining things, but that's pretty much it.

Batman - upstaged by Heath Ledger. Dilinger (or whatever its called) upstaged by Depp. Terminator Salvation, Worthington. The Prestige - Jackman and Caine. 3:10 to Yuma - Crowe. The list goes on.

You just cant give him a good part and expect him to carry it through. So all the major characters are off limits.

Kalam-wise, we already have our man.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. Played Mr Eko in Lost, and the awesome Nubian swordsman in the Mummy Returns. He wouldnt cost too much to get on board, he fits the profile perfectly, he has plenty of experience doing similar fight-scene stuff. So he's be PERFECT. Honestly, look at him and then read the Kalam descriptions, bear in mind he can do good fight scenes, and try and tell me he isnt the ideal casting.

In the commentary track for the Oz's first season DVD, director Tom Fontana said that Adewale would display his penis in scenes where it was not required by the script but would refuse to do so when it was written in the script.

Wow, I can't disagree more. See, you look at him being willing to work with an ensemble and say "he's getting upstaged all the time, so he can't be good."

I say; "Crap, it takes a serious actor to be a lead in the movie and not feel threatened by someone else who's chewing scenes." Ledger's Joker, nothing was going to upstage that, esp. after Ledger's death. Same with Bale in "Public Enemies" and "The Prestige" where he was essentially the straight guy.

As for Terminator, that movie was doomed by the plot changes they made to make Connor's role in it substantive. In the original plot, Connor was virtually a cameo. They wrote it up (admittedly because Bale wanted to play Connor, and not Worthington's role, which they originally asked him to play), but there was no way it was going to make a lot of sense. But there was a lot more wrong with that movie than Bale anyway. Great concept ruined by craptastic scriptwriting and direction.

I have been watching reruns of The Wire lately and have decided that whilst TT's Oz/Mummy Returns/Lost guy would make a decent Kalam,
the role should go to Idris Elba, the dude who plays Stringer Bell, he is Kalam.

Also the guy who plays the Leiutenant, I think it's Lance something, would be an option as Quick Ben
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.
Just look at em' now, already pullin' the plow. So quick to take to grain, like some old mule.

Here's two that I think would be perfect, neither of which I've seen in this thread yet. Here goes.
Whiskeyjack: the only guy I can even imagine playing him is Keifer Sutherland. I mean, WJ isn't supposed to be too old, and if you've ever seen Keifer with a beard, it's perfect!
Wait, I found a pic:

That's WJ in my mind, though maybe he should look a little older... But his voice is perfect.

Dujek: Two words, Jeremy Irons. Nuff' said.

I third Summer Glau as Apsalar.

Hugh Laurie as ST would be interesting and probably quite good, although I'd prefer someone with a bit more of a crazy streak, not just sarcastic and smart.

But I disagree heavily with the OP (and everyone else who agrees with the OP), Samuel L. Jackson should not play anything in the Malazan world, he does not fit at all.

Wu doesn't need no motherfucking snakes on my motherfucking plane, it needs actors that can instill emotion and depth (which, as is clearly shown in TTH, Kallor possesses quite some amount of). If we wanted to read about motherfucking snakes on my motherfucking plane, we'd be reading...oh I don't know, but at least not this series.

And I repeat (as it got lost amid a ruction) that Dawn French should be Tattersail.
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.
