Firstly, an actual paedophiliac act in Denmark does not result in a one year sentence. That is the lowest sentence for someone who has looked at child porn on there computer, not for any active rape or whatever. Admittedly that may seem low, but considering that would include anybody looking at porn of girls who are 17(?), that is a reasonably harsh sentence. Although I am not arguing that such behaviour is not immoral, but then again I still believe that depends on your age.
Anyways, rehabilitation is a workable a solution, and the strongest reason for imprisonment. This is especially true concerning drugs. When considering sex offenses I personally believe that a decent proportion of offenders can be rehabilitated (especially in consideration of the threat of future imprisonment (also the argument people like to commit crime so they can have a nice free time in jail, that is an extremely poor view of how living in jail is)), and those who cannot be are nearly universally mentally deranged, they really deserve are sympathy and our support (in a mental hospital), not our ire. I guess this view is based on my view that no one is inherently evil, and those who attack societies moral standards, are in fact moral deranged/deficient in some way. But even without this founding i still believe my previous premises are sound.
