They're also early 30's. Let's see how they do when they're 39. Brady might not waffle...but Manning? Oh I can totally see it. I like Favre way more than those two guys. Not that I dislike them.

Sometimes the greatest have the toughest time letting go. I wish the guy could play forever, he's so fun to watch.

Manning, a waffler? NEVOR!

It's just douchy the way Brett goes about it: Waffle for a few years. Make strong statements regarding your future out of the NFL. Have a big to-do celebrating retirement...which prompts nearly every TV station to run a "Goodbye Brett Favre" segment. And then..."Oops, my bad, I still wanna play."

I'm in "wait and see" mode right now.

I didn't hate on MJ when he did it, why Favre?

And MJ was still a top player in the league when he was fucking 40.

Maybe he'll play for the Falcons. And wouldn't that be sweet?

The official story is that he didn't say that, it was all a rumor.

Don't call Favre a douche. You'll make me angry.

The great thing about the NFL is that with the exception of a few perennial powers (Pats, Colts, etc) there are always those "when the hell did they get good?" teams.

That's the good thing about your drafts ystem, you can always be sure that the gap between top and bottom teams wont stay too wide because of the heavy reliance on College players being the next generation of stars. In football (ok, I'll call it soccer just in this thread) in Europe we dont get that, it's very much down to the individual clubs to find players when they are still kids and develop them, then persuade them to stay. Because of no salary caps, you get a situation where the top few teams have all the money and sit and wait for other teams to find good players. Knowing moving to those clubs is the only way of winning trophies, plus getting big wages, means the situation just solidifies.

I like how you can pick a franchise (in my case the Denver Broncos) to support and over the course of a decade see them go from awesome to pure shit, or vice-versa. Makes being a fan more rewarding.

Yet somehow those Patriot bitches keep having great teams. Ohhhh, I hate them. Of course, hating a team can be as much fun as rooting for a team.

I hate Tom Brady, and his unbelievably square chin. It's like he was made from a chisel and granite. Rich handsome bastard.

Thats because lots of their players are willing to be paid less than they could otherwise to keep getting superbowl rings.

The pats are starting to get old though, they really need some young talent in there, and I don't know how much they have.

That does help a team to win their division, true enough.

LOL, good point. The Jets, Bills and Dolphins haven't exactly been lighting it up lately.

It would be awesome to see Favre play for the Falcons, just because it would be HILARIOUS :D

It would make me cry. Why would he? They're not going to the superbowl.

Who says the Packers are? No offense Ray, but how many times have we seen a team go 12-4 or 13-3 one year and the next not even make the playoffs??

I think it wouldn't be a stretch to say that the Pack overachieved last year.

You're right, but Favre has no incentive to screw up his legacy and piss people off to come back for a team that has no shot. Even though the packers aren't going to win it, he would still be a hero for one more year if he played for them. He'd be silly to come out of retirement for a mediocre team that isn't the packers. And the packers are going to be better than the falcons regardless.

Well if they aren't better than the Falcons than Rogers won't last a season :D

Yeah, the big question is how long they stick with Rodgers if he isn't doing well. Since they have no one but rookies behind him, I think he gets a whole season regardless. If it's a bad season, will they dump him?

I can't see how they do that. The guy's played in what....a few games in several years??? You gotta give him 2 years at least.

I hope they give him at least two years. Obviously they see something in him, or wouldn't have kept him around. It would be odd to jump ship quickly. I think he'll be ok though. No Brett Favre, but who is? SI just had an interesting article about how he's the newest member of the "I replaced a legend club." The only member of that club to really do well and be accepted is Steve Young, and it didn't come for him until he won a Superbowl.
