So do LA people really not want a NFL team? I find that hard to believe.

I think they want one, there's other problems keeping it from happening.

Good point. They hardly deserve another. Plus, they used to have one and let them leave.

you can probably fit new york, mass, washington dc, maryland, and a few other northeastern states into california. that makes up plenty of the difference.

By that criteria Alaska should have 4 or 5 nfl teams.

sure we do, they just keep putting up bullshit proposals like putting it in downtown LA or remodelling the coliseum or putting it in the rose bowl.
the city of anaheim offered land right next to angel stadium and the city of carson would like to put one on the site of the home depot center(which is/was already the chargers offseason facility). the league ignored both outright eventhough they state they want brand new stadiums.
basically, the league is happy with LA buying merchandise for every other team and not having to rebalance the schedule by adding another team. after the buffalo owner dies we may get the bills, but with the success of the chargers and saints we wont be seeing either of those teams here(and they were the best bet a few years back). they're probably still punishing us for the actions of al davis as well

True, but you were talking physical size. If you wanted to make the population argument, which is much more valid, you should have done so.

the point im making is(in nfl terms) that ny has 3 teams(2 physically in new jersey), baltimore has 1, dc has 1, boston has 1, and pittsburg has 1.. they're all within the driving distance of say, ventura to san diego, which has 1 team and damn near as many people
thats part of the problem with how sports work out west. the mlb and nfl dont mind putting teams in smaller markets back east, but wont take a chance out west. the seahawks and mariners have from washington to northern california all the way out to colorado and montana.
meanwhile, st petersberg, tampa bay, jacksonville, green bay, and buffalo all have mlb or nfl franchises when portland has jack shiat, salt lake city gets anally reamed in the most illegal way, vegas gets scoffed at, etc.
at least the nba has some balls and puts teams in places that deserve them and wholly support them. seattle gets the boofing because of a stadium deal rather than not supporting a terrible franchise(which they did), but thats not the nbas fault.

Let's not taint an NFL thread with the silliness that is the NBA.

While LA has a lot of people who want an NFL team, I've heard there's a large contingent that are indifferent to having one. Weird. Though LA is a wacky place.

When L.A. can sell out every game they'll deserve a franchise. But, eventually they'll get one. Jacksonville, Buffalo... these are possibilities. The Colts had been on the possible move list until we built our new stadium.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Ducks sold out every home game. Dodgers and Angels average over 3million each a year. Lakers are always sold out. Clippers and Kings have decent crowds as well. I think we can handle it, just put it in a good spot, not in downtown, not in the ghetto, and not in the boondocks.
