Captain Malcolm Reynolds is a mystery writer and helps a hot PD detective solve cases. ALso involved is Sgt. Poke from Generation Kill. Pretty fun series tbh!

I left Buffy off of my list, I have been watching this over the last few months, (when it was originally out I was young and watched an episode here and there), I love it now though. Just watched an episode were Cordillia almost died, followed by another episode were she wishes Buffy had never come to Sunnydale, immense!

Buffy is benchmark television. It varies from the brilliant (s2 finale, The Body, the Musical Episode) to the occassionally awful (the burger place, large chunks of S5) but overall is a great body of tv work with real character arcs, humour and terrific action. The spin-off, ANGEL, had more low points but is still overall a worthy successor for as long as it lasted.

Worth watching.

The thing is Angel changes considerably in his own series and the cast with him (Wes, Cordelia, Gunn, Fred and various others) is very strong. It really is worth watching if you're watching Buffy too - even if you dislike Angel in Buffy.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I'm binge watching Buffy right now too, halfway through season 2. As embarrassing as it is in terms of geek cred, I only saw through her first college year (season 4?) when it originally aired cuz I didn't have my own TV during college, so for instance I never saw any of the Michelle Trachtenberg years, and I'm only now getting around to it. It's a blast to get back into it. Timing-wise I guess maybe having been in full on Veronica Mars mode lately has just put me in the mood for its primary ancestor.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Angel in Buffy goes thru a brilliant storyline in S2. Seriously, for a show that had some great great storylines, nothing quite matched this. His S3 storyline isn't quite as impressive and then he buggers off to his own series, which is great when it's great and awful when it isn't, but overall worth the eyeball time if only for the supporting cast carried over from Buffy.

S2 remains my favorite of the series. It starts with Spike and Dru, and only gets better from there. The finale is stunning.

I normally hate musicals but the Buffy episode was pretty good actually. Enjoyed Buffy when it was on, and it had some pretty good high points.

In fairness to Angel, while it had some truly terrible episodes, it also managed to scale some heights when it got into it's stride. And I think the 2 episode finale was about as good an ending you could hope for, from a show that was on the verge of being cancelled for quite a while (which made it hard to plan too far ahead). Plus Angel gave us our first extended look at Amy Acker, who is a fantastic actress (currently killing it as Root in Person of Interest).

As clunky as BUFFY S5 could be...it has some of the best first half of series episodes (the finale THE GIFT, for example, is one of only a few eps that will make me sob like a little kid with a skinned knee)...the second half is S6-7 where it had moved networks from CW to UPN...and things go batshit insane in unexpected, but great ways. Seriously, Felicia Day was a Potential y'all!

have to agree. I was so ready to hate it, but they did it so ridiculously well.

Agreed on both points.
Angel's S3 was pretty dire at times tho'. One particular and major plotline verged on outright insultingly bad at times.

Acker has been cast as Coulson's "cellist" from his past on AGENTS Of SHIELD...Joss loves her so it was only a matter of time, but yeah Acker is really excellent and her street cred elevates anything she's in.
