English people! Y'all have been keeping a secret.

I was on social media and saw an edit with what looked like Robin Hood set to Clannad music...so I was intrigued.

Thus I have discovered ROBIN OF SHERWOOD (1984-1986) and the excellence that is a FULL Clannad score, real sets across England VS any soundstages, and a gritty (albeit bloodless; all Xena) telling of the Robin Hood tales....Michael Praed's stellar 80's hair, Judi Trott's kind of gawky spindly Marion with a full spat of red curls backdropped against the lushest greenery you can find....amazing. Add in a young Ray Winstone as a grumbly Will Scarlet? So good. Is it hokey at times? It is. Is the action a bit overly campy? It is. Do I love it nonetheless? I do.

I know there are only three short series and I know there is some casting shenanigans in Series 3...but I'm still down for all of it (I'm about midway through S1).

And apparently in June of this year coincidentally it was announced that the daughter of original series writer/creator Richard Carpenter (who passed in 2012) had hired Mike Grell (who has written a lot of Green Arrow comics for DC) to write a trilogy of novels set in the canon and take place about a decade after the end of the show. So that's neat.

anyways. I like this a lot, but I'm a fan of like Xena and Merlin so this was always going to be my jam.

I'm currently watching the TV show The Gentlemen, which is a sequel to the Guy Ritchie movie of the same name.

It's a lot of fun as you'd expect and bonus, it's got both Pearce Quigley as an insane highly religious Scouse gangster, and Giancarlo Esposito as a super rich dude who seems to be trying to muscle in on some of the criminal activity.

Oh, and Vinnie Jones of course.

Starting it this weekend. Wrapped up Season 3 of Silo first.

Thought season 3 was going to be a bit of a letdown after the first couple episodes, seemed like they kept re-hashing plot lines, but they stuck it. It’s the best season so far. Especially when they started the flash back to present day. I’m all in for Season 4, but dang it’s a slow burn.

Okay, I watched Rooster. The other - other - other Bill Lawrence show on right now that a couple of you have mentioned. It might be the coziest, lowest stakes one of them all. Steve Carell is a good fit for his brand of humor. The Four Seasons isn't exactly the same thing Bill Lawrence is doing, but it's a close cousin and Carell just has a knack for these kinda guys. And I appreciate any show that will get Rory Scovel onto my TV.

Furious (on Hulu in the US): Very engaging manhunt-type thriller where you spend like half the time with the killer (played by Lola Petticrew, who I've never seen before but is fantastic) and the other half with the main investigator, an FBI agent (Emmy Rossum, who is also great). It's got weightier issues on its mind than your average procedural, while still doing the cat-and-mouse stuff really well too. A few episodes have Rob Delaney playing a rich doofus, so that's a big plus.

Was pleasantly impressed with Reacher season 4's depiction of Philadelphia until the white police officer started talking with a New York accent and Reacher said he was at "the Uptown on Frankford, listening to music"---it's on JFK, WTF... and they don't have live music. Bleh.

... and instead of an actual Philadelphia diner they made up some bullshit "Morning Bell Diner". Quadruple bleh.

There's also a lot more to the culinary culture than cheesesteaks.

Oh and about that posh brasserie in Rittenhouse (traditionally the richest part of Center City Philadelphia) with the outdoor seating where Reacher &co sit down...




More exciting than the show... and WTF is that guy doing running after him---does he have a bigger gun tucked away somewhere? He's going to try to tackle and grapple a guy with a gun over a laptop?
