For some reason The Man in the High Castle is trending on Prime Video (strange!) so I've been watching it. Fantastic show, but a bit depressing considering how many characters are American but fully sold into the Nazi way of life...

It gets a little on the murky end with the nazi plotline by the final season, but the Japanese side of it stays strong throughout and Joel De La Fuente’s Inspector Kido is the best character arc by a country mile, and he should have won awards for that performance…its exquisite.

This may be the BEST entertainment news so far this year. BUFFY reboot with SMG in the works with Chloe Zhao!

OH MY GODS YES. And Whedon nowhere to be found on the crew. Good.

You guys have no idea, BUFFY was my JAM in my late teens early 20's. I'm so excited.

And in case we wanted something more? Here's SMG in the 'Yummy Sushi' pyjamas from S4 on Instagram today already buzzing about it!!!!

The BtVS news... yeah, that sounds good to me.

Now stand by for the entire cast to be quoted w variations of 'no one has called me but i would LOVE to'. Tho i'm betting no one calls Boreanaz, and Brendon is a mess even if he could use the work.

Since they intentionally avoided Whedon, I expect Brendon not to be asked back but they could just cast his twin brother Kelly Donovan in the role of Xander and be done with it...that's easy.

I expect surviving cast to be back at points (Willow, Dawn, Spike) to be back..and Giles IF they don't follow the Comic for S8 where a possessed Angel murders him...and if I'm honest, I could see a resurrected Cordy coming back in some capacity as a shock reveal.

But I think the main cast will be new younger people, and Buffy will fill the Bruce Wayne/Batman Beyond role?

This is a risk this sort of show faces.... the conflict between new cast/new audience and 'bring back everyone and give them more to do so the old audience returns'. I hope they stick SMG in some form of leader or mentor roll and go entirely new, i fear they keep the focus on her and a revolving run of returnees.

I feel like some of the recent reboot/long sequel shows have gotten it right. FRASIER....dribs and drabs of the old cast showing up here and there, but the new cast being allowed to shine and make their own thing....or FULLER HOUSE where the old cast just backed up the younger cast, and the old cast were doing different things than they had been as youths, so it worked (until Becky got caught stealing and shit)...it can work if they do it right, and I agree that Buffy should play the mentor role and allow the new cast to shine on their own.

Oh, and also Eliza Dushku (who for all intents and purposes when Buffy ended was THE Slayer) has given up acting to focus on a different career, so I don't know how much she'd want to be involved...depends how much money they offer her I guess?

Hannigan and Trachtenberg are both still in the acting game, Carpenter too i think. That would be plenty.
I think Marsters got out and just does voicework now, and honestly he (still looks good but) looks nothing like Spike any longer. Tho once we're playing w vamps hey, bring back Juliet Landau in any capacity and i'm there. Anthony Head's an obvious and should be a HUGE deal.

Yes I'm over halfway through S2 and while Rufus Sewell is brilliant as Smith, the Japanese trade minister and Kido are probably the two best characters.

Not entirely sure what is going on (alternate universes? How does the titular Man know about them? Who is making the videos?) but I'm here for the ride.

Something else that is making me smile is that they are frequently doing a Heil Hitler to each other, which they absolutely would, but I can't help but keep thinking of JoJo Rabbit and the scene with Stephen Merchant:

New broadband and tv provider. Which means we are watching The Last Of Us. Pedro Pascal has such a sexy voice. I never noticed before - is that why they gave him the Mandalorian helmet? When the mycoapalypse comes, I'll be hunting that sexy bitch down.

Also, I have free but advert ridden Paramount+ which means Brave New Worlds. Just may have to bump Mr PD off to have free reign of the remote for my tv catchup. White Lotus as well. Succession!

I finished Cobra Kai today. And then I got a little tipsy and gave Mr PD and my 8 year old son a potted history of what happened over however many series and the big finale. I just experienced the first time your kid looks at you thinking "What a twat". But it is a great final episode. The series is total shite - the main kids are not good at karate yet - as Daniel San was never good at it - IT WORKS! I loved it. What a great ending.

YES

I normally wait for a show to be finished and then I binge it... Reacher is one of those shows where I don't think I can wait that long.

Same re Reacher, having just marathon'd S1 and 2 and very enjoyed.

AM ridicuously excited about MURDERBOT. All the skepticism but dammit if they can pull it off...

Just Finished CITADEL.... fairly expensive high end Russo bros spy show starring Richard that guy who died in GoT Madden and Priyanka holy crap did she just do a spin kick in that dress Chopra. It's not brilliant, but it's fun, the action scenes are well done, and it's short enough at six eps that i was entertained w a minimum of eye rolling.

The sequel series CITADEL: DIANA, goes for a more complex plot, to mixed results so far 4 eps in. Fun, drags at times, tries a little too hard to be clever and doesn't pull it off but the action is well done and the cast try really hard to sell it and mostly succeed.

Finished COBRA KAI S6.

Sad to leave these characters behind but I think they really stuck the landing and gave every character the best end (for now anyways) they could. The last few fights were really cool, and letting the show return to the two characters it focused on in the beginning (Johnny and Miguel) in the last two episodes really felt right. A bunch of cheer-worthy moments, and some really emotional asides.

I know that Zabka apparently has a cameo in KARATE KID LEGENDS with Ralph and Jackie Chan, because they tested it without him and audiences were annoyed not even a mention happened, so they reportedly shot a pickup with him and Daniel in a scene which is cool.

I want to own the whole thing in a boxed set on BluRay to keep forever. I feel like there's a lot of rewatchibility there for comfort viewing. It's not often long running shows can stick the landing, so it's nice to see.
