So, are you really trying to tell me that the Office came up with the idea of the mockumentary? Or the bumbling evil boss?

I don't think I said that Ray.

A combination of the 2 with some award winning writing and acting, at the time, made it original and masochistically watchable. There had been nothing really like it on UK TV (maybe Brass Eye ?) and nothing since has made me squirm as much (apart from the occasional Sacha Baron Coen/Ali G/ Borat Sketch),.

But anyway this is all moot. You prefer the USAO, I don't ,somehow I don't think that will change anytime soon and as I said in my previous post, this is fine.

Onto other things, am currently enjoying Life on Mars. Entertaining and an excellent concept, it harks back to a time where my job would have been a lot easier...

Anyone seen this and wants to tell me if it is worth getting into the follow up show, Ashes to Ashes? Does the plot follow on? I started to read up about it but it looked like it had spoilers in from Life on Mars so I'm now too scared to investigate...

Ha ! I can just see you fantasizing about being Gene Hunt, giving some valley lout a slap whilst calling him a slag !

Life on Mars is well worth watching, Ashes to Ashes was ok but imo not as good. There is a bit of conceptual crossover from LoM so I won't spoil it. Keeley Hawes is suitably foxy, Gene Hunt has a more prominent part and the ending was a bit contentious......

All in all though, if you enjoyed LoM you will enjoy Ashes to Ashes.

Zombie episode on Community!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

NIKITA - getting better and better. This week's ep was solid and Alex is growing on me.

HAWAII 5-0 - holding the line at watchable cop fun altho the product placements are getting stupider and stupider - this past week's smartphone/LG/Bing moment was viscerally irritating. But Bronson Pinchot torture win!!!

THE EVENT - manages one bit per episode that keeps me around despite the stupid RVs rampaging all over the place.

FRINGE - how are any of you not watching this show? Genius.

I agree about Nikita, it's getting quite good. Are you talking about the episode where Alex gets interrogated ? Good stuff, especially with that other guy whose name escapes me ( the cleaner with Percy's info who Nik helps) floating about. Makes things interesting as he knows Nik has got someone on the inside.

Those eps were good - i esp liked how Alex turned the interrogation. But specifically last night's ep with Michael's revenge mission. managed to avoid being predictable on a few fronts.

Cool, I think we may be a couple of episodes behind in Blighty but I was hoping this Michael dude would be given the opportunity to go on a kill crazy rampage.......

Just caught up on Season 3 of Castle,

and a nice Firefly / Serenity reference dropped in the middle of the latest episode when Castle starts speaking Chinese, then explains where he learned it.
meh. Link was dead :(

:)

Can't wait for Season 2. And that Castle bit was hilarious. I love the Firefly references, like the Halloween episode last season where he goes as a space cowboy and his daughter is like 'didn't you wear that like 5 years ago?'

It is my imagination or is the writing on HOUSE just awesome this season? The level of humour is thru the roof, yet somehow the potw storyline remains compelling. Can't say i want them to keep student-girl forever, but she is playing really well off the rest of the cast.

We have a big backlog of Hawaii Five-O, so last night we decided to watch one.

Wow. That. Was. Bad.

That show makes The Event look like Shakespeare.

Purging the DVR of remaining eps...
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Which ep?
The quality is all over the place. A couple of eps have been great, and a couple have been mind-numbingly please-make-it-stop stupid.

The one wherein we meet McGarrett's sister, and Balthazar Getty plays jailbreak.

Eyes bleeding, indeed.

Oh yeah, that one was bad.

If you have the recent one about Danno's ex-partner, that wasn't bad. Or the rogue Navy Seal ep.

This show still needs to work on not making its supposed plot twists brainlessly obvious. That and give Grace Park something to do besides crack 'i'm the only girl on this team' jokes and wear bikinis/slinky dresses.
