Happy! on Netflix. It was pretty fun I have to say. 5 out of 7 humorous mutilations.

...THE EXPANSE. I saw one episode of this and it is weird. I have not read the books so have no knowledge of the plot, characters or anything else. It seems a bit naff with painful dialogue and nothing to really keep me hooked. Should I stick with it after S1E1 or should I give it up and watch something else? Not feeling massively inclined to keep watching but if enough people rave about it I might give it another go.

I will rave about The Expanse. Abyss will prob rav about The Expanse. Whisperzzz will prob rave about The Expanse.

It's amazeballs. Give it a few eps. It has hella crazy tension once it gets going. This latest S3 has been firing on all cylinders.

^ that. Stick with it for a few eps. It escalates quickly.

Cobra Kai

It's getting better reviews/receptions then you'd think. I mean, you booger eaters will eat up crap like Rosanne and reality television and reboots of One Shitty Life to Live, and Will and Disgrace, and Full House (of shit), and blah blah blah, but you'll hate on this? Fuck off down the road with that 'tude and maybe give it a try, ya think?

Anyway, first two episodes are free.

The thing is, did the world really need any of those reboots? No, probably not, tho i make an exception for WILL & GRACE on principal because it admirably filled a tv niche that was strikingly empty and pretty much stayed that way when it left.

So did the world need a KARATE KID 20 YEARS LATER tv show? Nope. Is it a good show worth watching of its own merit? Meh. Maybe. Maybe not. There is better tv being made now but worse tv too. If you are one of the maybe dozen or three or so people who watched all the original Ralph Macchio KARATE KID movies recently enough to remember them and were deeply impacted by 'wax on wax off', sure.

Otherwise it's a cheap nostalgia play on a property the production got for cheap with start who (are just happy to be working and therefore) worked for cheap.

...but hey, if enough people want to watch it, all good.

RE: THE EXPANSE.

I've read the books.

TV show is....fine. I really didn't feel compelled to watch Season 2 to be frank. I found it was WELL off my head cannon of what the story looked like...and that was enough to put me off.

Everyone else seems to like it though, so I'm in the minority.

I acknowledge enjoying the show as a book series reader does require one to let go of a lot of preconceived impressions and visuals including some that are important to the books (tho i do think the show nailed some elements).

You're hardly alone in not loving the show specifically because of having read/enjoyed the books tho'. In fact i'm sure there are at least three of you.... you should all get together in someone's parents' basement and commiserate. Have a root beer, maybe their mom can microwave some nachos...

I resubscribed to HBO because of Westworld. Since I was already paying I thought I would check out some of the other stuff they have.

I've been binge watching Bosch all day. Just started season 2.

It's based on the detective series about Heronimus "Harry" Bosch. It's pretty good. Not quite as in depth and complex as the first book I once read but it's good enough. It gets a bit too "TV Cop" at times but it doesn't get too stupid.

I like that it's a case of the season show and not just a case an episode. Almost seems like you're watching proper police work.

Huh I didn't know that Cloak and Dagger were getting a show. Looks pretty teeny boppy so I will probably skip it
...

I would have had the same reaction except that THE RUNAWAYS was so much more entertaining than i expected it to be, in that it took an utterly 'CW' teen drama with Marvel comics elements concept and delivered a solid ten eps of tv, so i'm willing to give C&D a few eps.

You folks with the 4K / Ultra HD televisions be sure to check out Aerial Cities and Aerial Africa. Both are new from Smithsonian Channel (with multiple episodes) and are stunning.

Watching through DETECTORISTS again. It's just as funny and delightful as it was the first time through.

Dang, Brooklyn 99 canceled. 5 years is a good run, but for a show that started great and was only getting better, this is a big disappointment.

Your news brings me great sadness.

Finished up the original Twin Peaks. I thought parts of the beginning of season 2 were pretty rough, almost gave up on it. Glad i kept watching though, I really enjoyed.

Going to start The Return tonight.
