I'm kinda hoping they do Ameican horror story type ARC with stranger things... Have a bunch of seasons end the in a similar fashion and don't give you everything

Tie all them together with a movie-format story

Hmmmm they could be wrong. My idea sounds far cooler anyhow.

I dunno, I'm definitely happy with this cast, and wouldn't mind seeing their further adventures, even as the story expands elsewhere too. It's not too far from the Sense8 or Orphan Black model of storytelling.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I renewed my HBO go account, so I'm rewatching The Wire. I watched it the last time I was on HBO, but didn't finish it. I'm watching from the start and I'm enjoying every second of it.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.

My mate is obsessed with it and I was wondering if anyone here had picked it up.

I'm going to watch the first ep tonight and report back.

Regarding Outcast, I posted the same query in this thread a few pages ago. I've seen the first episode (which HBO aired) and I really enjoyed it. It's on Cinemax, which I don't get. Anyway, I'm interested to see if anyone has been watching it. If there is positive response, I might go ahead and buy season 1 when it comes to blu-ray.

Just finished it yesterday.

It was a very, very good show. I dont know if it deserves the insanely high praise it gets, but is was pretty fantastic.

We are in a golden age of excellent tv, so it is easier for stuff to get overshadowed. The wire was at the forefront of that age. It was one of the key shows that showed that tv is not inherently inferior to movies, you can tell an excellent story that spans entire seasons and sometimes even create a superior product to movies. That is almost common now, but then it wasn't.

That show deserves every bit of praise it gets. Of course, it isn't beyond criticism, there were seasons definitely weaker than others, but on the whole it's fantastic. Great stories, great characters, excellent at developing emotional attachment to what was going on, it was gooooood.

I thought Hell on Wheels was another biker show. The railroad premise sounds more interesting I guess. What is the show like? Sort of like There will be blood or?

I watched through season 3 and started season 4 and then dropped it. I think I was getting fatigued by the The Swede story and other aspects of the show that just seemed to drag on or just seemed to be a dead end or didn't contribute to the overall story.

Anyway, Season 1 is very good. If you liked Red Dead Redemption, it should be up your ally. Cullen Bohannon is almost the spitting image of John Marston, and his motivations are very similar.

So I decided to watch the first ep then ended up watching three.

About 30 mins into the first ep I was unsure but something happens towards the end that convinced me to watch the next...

To be honest I'm still not too sure on the show, it's good but it's not the normal type that I watch. It has enough mystery to keep me going and it is well enough done too.

There are some ugh scenes, it's nothing really scary but it definitely picks up pace as it goes along.

I think it will depend on your taste as to whether it will be a show for you. I don't think it will be one that appeals to the masses but I am in, I want to see where it goes.

I had the exact same feelings. I think this type of show would have been more popular during the demon/devil possession era of the 70s/80s (a la Exorcist), but I don't think it strikes a cord with 2016 sensibilities. I did like the first episode and would have contiued to watch if I had Cinemax in my premium bundle.

I just learned that a Nikita TV-show ran from 2010-2013:

http://www.imdb.com/..._=nm_flmg_act_4

Did any of you watch it? I assume that since it ran for 4 seasons it can't have been bad. I just wonder if it managed to recreate that weird mix of sex, murder and intrigue the older show and movie created.

Yep, I watched it for a season. It was fun, and enjoyable. But it never topped out with anything "must watch" for me...if that makes sense.

Plus Maggie Q.

Maggie Q was good.

I seriously enjoyed the Peta Wilson (LA FEMME) NIKITA series and this never quite impressed me as much. Bailed about halfway thru S2. I imagine it would be decent popcorn viewing tho'. The action scenes were usually well done.

My mate watched it up to the end but he said s3 and s4 were a bit all over the place, only continued watching it to see what happens apparently, he's a completionist. Stupid plot devices that made no sense, characters start making stupid decisions etc. I caught the odd ep with him but I never saw enough to make me want to watch it.

edit

I also watched ep4 of Outcast, it's definitely a slow burn, I'm moving it to the watch when I'm in the mood pile, better stuff that I can be viewing at the minute... Hello Mr Robot s02e04!

Finished Season 1 of STRANGER THINGS last night! Absolutely amazing start to finish. The tension and excitement never lets up.

spoilers to the end.

Spoiler

Netflix needs to greenlight S2 now! Also, apparently Guillermo Del Toro and Stephen King are both raving about the show. That's a solid endorsement.

Just finished watching Stranger Things over 3 nights. Absolutely amazing from start to finish!! I can't think of one thing to really complain about. The toughest thing to me was seeing Winona Ryder like that. And I got past that by Ep 5 or 6.

I love Apt's paragraph back a ways about the nostalgia the show causes. I was the age these kids were around '77, '78 but knew all the same things: when freedom was your bike, down vests (had one; loved it!), rotary phones, wood paneling, D & D, although I didn't start playing that until later... It never pulled me out of the show, though, even when it made me lol. The one difference: my wife and I both looked at each other and said we would NOT have gotten away with saying "shit" at the dinner table at that age.

The acting by all involved was outstanding, I thought. El and Mike the best but none performed poorly. I never felt like I knew too much or too little and there were plenty of scare moments that didn't feel forced. My wife and I cannot believe how much it gripped us and how much we liked it. I don't know how a 2nd season can live up to this but I'll be happy to watch them try.

Hopper's got some HEAVY hands. He dropped like half the guys in the show! And even he was a fantastic character.

5 Stars!

Edit: Did anyone else think the quarry was the same one used in the premier of S6 of The Walking Dead? There were 2, maybe 3 scenes with a quick shot from the same angle that made me think so, especially 1 that was only missing the tractor trailer bed in the foreground. Looks like both shows were filmed in Georgia...
