Killjoys episode 9 was damn good. There was a lot of stuff hinting at much broader interstellar storylines to come, so I'm really excited for that. This show gets better with each episode, and I really hope it gets renewed.

KJ 9 was extremely good and yea I'm glad they hinte at more beyond Quad. I still think the 2 shows are in same Uni.

Dark Matter 10 was a really fun heist episode and we got our 3rd SG appearance. Tori Higginson who played Dr Weir the leader of Atlantis for S1-3.

I knew she loomed familiar! She was the Mikkei Combine lady.

Indeed. It's official after 3 stars someone is friends with someone on SG end.

Yeah, Mallozzi and Mullie wrote a lot of SG episodes.

Finished Bojack Horseman season 2. I wouldn't have thought they could go much darker, but the show really doubled down. It's fearless. I understand if some were turned off by the first half of season 1 which is somewhat boilerplate Hollywood satire that happens to be in a weird alt-universe, but the dominoes really started falling halfway in and they're still falling for the entirety of S2. I'm lovin' it.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

So anyone watch once upon a time? I just got started with it. Im about a quarter way through s2. Liking all the twists on the tales we knew.

Also i don't mind lancelot being black at all, i think it's a welcome change from hollywood and disney whitefying everything else.

There's a thread on it somewhere here....some of us watched it and gave up...others are still watching it. Opinions vary.

So Dark Matter has finished S1. I must say that was my fav new SyFy series this yr. it was just fun. That ending had my jaw open. Also Wil Wheaton(Wes Crusher) guest starred in ep 12 and I got a kick out of him. He was super creepy.

I'm on board with Dark Matter as well. I admit I didn't even give Killjoys a chance because I found the premise of DM much more intriguing, and I just don't have time to keep adding new shows, even with the DVR. I'm thinking I probably made the right choice, for me anyway. I may actually like Dark Matter a little more than I do Defiance at this point, although I'm still hanging in there with that one also. I must say, I find the abbreviation FTL for light speed (or faster) travel rather amusing and almost cheesy. I must not have caught it if they explained what it stood for early on but when I asked out loud what the hell it stood for my wife and daughter said "faster than light" at the same time. Considering the other terms that have been used: warp speed, hyper space, etc, FTL seems like a pretty low hanging fruit. ScyFy does appear to be picking their game up with their originals...

Everyone knows that FTL stands for Fuck The Law(s of physics)

I'm surprised you hadnt heard it referred to either.

Just finished up watching KILLJOYS. Better than i expected, but still let down by some weak plotting, and weak writing at times.

Am trying to decide whether to binge watch the last season of Hannibal, or the first season of Dark Matter next. Hannibal is undoubtedly better but Dark Matter is much easier to just throw on, and watch a few episodes of.

Really??!! Huh! I swear I've never run across it before. I'm no movie buff but I've seen a good amount of sci fi, movies and tv. It's a genre I've enjoyed watching and reading since I watched (and played!) the original Star Trek as a kid.

Yes! I just found out the date the other day myself. This show is 50% of the reason I just added Netflix streaming. Definitely one of my favorites and the S3 cliffhanger was fantastic!

What are your reasons for liking Dark Matter? I'm genuinely curious. If they're similar to my reasons for liking Killjoys better, then you too may end up liking Killjoys better. For me, those reasons are: protagonists with depth, characters that interact like real people, lots of lore with details hinting at a wider universe to be revealed, and some new (to me, at least) scifi/fantasy concepts.

did a binge watch on the remaining Dark Matter episodes and have to say it wasa pretty damn good season overall. They worked around their small budget well, and there were a couple of good twists along the way. Curious as to how they'll go forward in season 2.

Both Killjoys and Dark Matter have been renewed for S2!

Here's a list of Syfy's upcoming shows for 2016:

Quote

The second season of Killjoys will join a rich 2016 Syfy lineup that includes previously announced scripted series The Magicians, based on Lev Grossman’s bestselling novels; Gale Anne Hurd’s thriller Hunters, the epic 10-part drama The Expanse (premiering December 14), and new seasons of 12 Monkeys and Dark Matter, also announced today.

Additional high profile scripted projects in development at Syfy include Incorporated, a futuristic espionage pilot from Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s Pearl Street Films; Hyperion, an adaptation of Dan Simmons’ Hugo Award-winning best-selling novel; Aldous Huxley’s classic novel Brave New World with Amblin Television; David Goyer’s Superman prequel, Krypton; and Frederik Pohl’s Hugo and Nebula Award-winning novel Gateway.

Had no idea about the Superman prequel or the Frederik Pohl adaptation.

I'm happy to see that both Killjoys and Dark Matter has been renewed, both are quality shows (despite a slow start for Killjoys). Of course, what I'm really looking forward to, as might have been mentioned before, is The Expanse! Please don't fuck it up, PLEAAASE!

A Superman sequel taking place on Krypton? That might actually be very interesting, but it also might be just like Gotham.

Gateway, from what I could read on the wiki seems rather interesting, especially if they actually do set it in a cold war era-esque setting.

Incorporated? Meh, a SciFi show about corporate espionage? That might be interesting, we shall have to wait and see.

Never read Hyperion and I'm most likely not going to, so I don't know about that.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Hyperion has the potential to be an awesome TV series if it is given a good budget. The very nature of the first book lends itself to an episodic adaptation on the small screen. It's not a spoiler to say that the first Hyperion book introduces us to 7 pilgrims undertaking a pilgrimage (a la The Canterbury Tales), who each tell their story of how and why they end up on said pilgrimage. Each backstory has plenty of depth, and so could easily be an episode each (with their current predicament breaking things up). The storytelling side too allows them to save up their SFX budget for the bits that need it, since some of the background stories are quite low key, and so could the setting for their carriage to the temple. That would allow them to go nuts for the bits that deserve it visually.

this is the show i fear will be botched though. Please let me be wrong.
