Anyone see Joss Whedon's adaptation of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing? Had a bunch of Whedonverse alumni in it (including the delightful Amy Acker). Wrong thread I know but wanted to throw it out there as a recommendation!

I was sick for a few days and ended up watching 10 episodes of Grimm. I was sort of intrigued at first but I've concluded that the show simply isn't worth my time. It's exceptionally predictable. The characters are weak to say the least, and even though the main character is introduced as an excellent investigator capable of finding out much of a person simply from a look, Sherlock Holmes style, he's still incapable of making even the simplest of conclusions when the answer is hitting him over the head again and again. He's supposed to be intelligent but the writers seem incapable of writing intelligent mysteries and so you get Grimm.
Not to mention the whole "monster of the week attacks in this special way. Oh, I guess I should not in any way watch out for that kind of attack. It would ruin the suspense".
In comparison, Hemlock Grove is hardly an A-class series but at least it tries to make something worthwhile.

Finally finished Breaking Bad. High, high quality show, especially for something put out by a non subscription channel. Really hope The Saul spinoff is as high quality, I love that character.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Episode 10 is more representative of the series going forwards than the previous ones - and the overarching story becomes more prominent as well. It's probably not enough to revitalize your interest, but it may be good to be aware that Nick and his group do get smarter about things.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I concur with Amphi. S1 was mediocre. A few high points, a lot of low points, and i wish i could say S2 got better but while the high points were higher, the low points got really really irritating.
What keep me watching was the popcorn tv elements, with sufficient brain-off entertainment to carry me along until the next really good ep.
S3 has been much much better, hardly a weak ep to be seen. It's not GoT or even Buffy by a long shot, but it's decent genre tv for when i have nothing brilliant on the DVR.

Ahhhhh Yes! Jeopardy! Battle of the Decades is back today (and the rest of this week) with notable contestants from the 2000's decade, including Ken Jennings. Should be fun!

I'm hoping for a Ken Jennings, Brad Rutter, Pam Mueller face-off by the end. But the 2000s might have the craziest lineup, lots of reeeeaaaaaalllly good players. Roger Craig, Tom Nissley, Vinita Kailasanth, all still very recognizable from name alone. Also really excited to see Colby's smirk again!

I'm just wondering: what's the point of Grimm? We already have had Twin Peaks, The X Files, Buffy, Angel, more recently and importantly - SUPER-goddamn-NATURAL... looks just so much like an attempt to cash in on the Winchesters' success. Just without the banter, angst and daddy issues. Kind of redundant.

You seem to be suggesting that since there are/were already urban fantasy/supernatural type shows on tv, there's no purpose in having more. The industry and viewing public disagrees with you.
The tv industry has been making shows to cash in on the success of other shows since they started making shows. GRIMM, along with OUAT and a few other failed shows, were all made in 2011 in an attempt to cash in on what i assume seen as a gap in the urban fantasy on tv market that Supernatural was in but not filling. Both shows are still around three seasons later so it appears the industry brainz were correct, which is a neat change of pace because usually when other networks try to cash in on a success it results in a sweeping mass of fail (see every show that tried to be the next LOST).
So long as a show makes advertisers dollars; gets decent ratings and is something fans will watch and enjoy, networks will cheerfully churn out yet another police forensic procedural, and once in a while, something a little more fun.

I binge watched and finished Hemlock Grove. Man that was some freaky shit. Freaky freaky shit. I have to say I kind of liked it but not that much. I am not eagerly awaiting the next few episodes.
