3) No annoying new characters. It's probably inevitable, but I'd really like to see people actually place their faith in Jack for once. I always roll my eyes when people second guess him. Have they read this guy's résumé?

Haha, yeah, that does get a bit jarring after he's been: head of/lead field agent of CTU, been doubted, cut loose, saved the entire United States and several Presidents, about EIGHT TIMES NOW. You would think, the moment a crisis comes up, people would just sit down, shut up, and wait for Jack Bauer to solve it for them. XD

Then again, I'm still waiting for Jack to do something dramatic and heroic, and when someone else says "Good job, Jack, the threat has been averted!" (or whatever), he turns around, emotionless gaze fixed, and says: "It's not over."
"What, but we defeated the-"
"It's only been six hours. There are at least 18 hours before this is over. Trust me."

Because you know, by now, you'd think he would know the drill. :p

If he would just check into a hotel, unplug the phone and tv and sleep for 12 hours the problem would pretty much go away.

Re: HIMYM Season Finale

Are we thinking the girl they revealed as the "mother" at the end of the season finale (yellow umbrella, musical instrument et. all) is the real deal...or a feint?

I have a feeling she's real deal...but if they think we are going to buy that Ted cares more about her than Robin (who he JUST had another intimate-type moment with on the second to last ep of the season)...I think they are in for a surprise.

I'm curious to see how this goes over when it's all done...since I can't imagine anything they could do, bar having Robin in a twist as the mother, would make anyone buy it.

It was definitely the mother. The final season is covering the entirety of Barney and Robin's wedding weekend (roughly 48 hours). Also, all the other main characters will meet her before Ted does.

I certainly hope it's not going to be 20+ episodes of just one wedding. Wouldn't that just be a bit too Days of our lives-esque?
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

There are lots of unfinished stories from previous seasons they could revisit. There's still 1 slap remaining from the slap bet, Ted has never said where that pineapple came from, what is Barney's actual job, etc etc. Add in tons of cameos from previous guest stars, the meetings all other main cast members will have with the mother, the actual wedding and Ted meeting the mother... there should be plenty of material for a whole season.

Got the boxset of this is England 86 and 88 for xmas but have been putting off watching them. They are some of the best television and acting I have ever seen. Its just so real and brilliant all the way through. I was utterly blown away. Are they making anymore?

There will be a This Is England '90, but it was postponed due to a documentary project the dude is working on. I've never watched the show, but I take it they're doing them in lieu of another film or what?

Been on a cartoon binge recently. Gravity Falls is maybe my favourite cartoon of all time, and I watch a lot of cartoons. Young Justice is great, captures the soap opera essence of comics and action perfectly, too bad it got cancelled. Adventure Time took a turn of strangely weird but kind of amazing. Seriously a bunch of great cartoons, I hope Young Justice finds a way to come back.

A friend loaned us the DVDs of Seasons 2 and 3 of DOWNTON ABBEY.

Already watched 7 eps of s2.

Why is this show so addictive? It's the downtoncrack.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Yup.

Welcome to the club.

It's addictive, because it's so melodramatic. You YEARN for villains to get their comeuppance, and for heroes to get the girl/guy...and you rail at the screen when that stuff doesn't happen.

Julian Fellowes knows how to write addictive stories.

It's easily my 2nd fave show on TV after DW.

The Mrs and I are finally getting round to watching Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman's motorcycle round the world LONG WAY ROUND, and having a blast watching it! We have already powered through four eps of the ten hours. Solid, SOLID entertainment.

Yesterday I watched the first two episodes of The Fall, a BBC crime drama with Gillian Anderson in. It's been very good so far, a serial-killer thing but an atypically slow-burn one, no killer of the week but instead an attempt to run lots of aspects of one case and mix in a little Northern Irish politics too (which is a brave move). Rather than being showy it gets its creep factor from little, humdrum creepy things which builds the tension brilliantly. Well set up so far, definitely worth a try if you like this sort of thing.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

I have a friend who is watching this and she has equated it to the same level of quality that Chris Chibnall's recent BROADCHURCH was...and that sells me out of the gate. Want to check it out.

Luther is a show that shouldn't work - but does.

The strength of its actors and the compression of the time scale is what carries it through some genuinely ridiculous plotting. My significant other and I watched the second season in one sitting and loved it. LOVED IT. The first season is what got us hooked though and it truly is better.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Yeah, Welcome to the club. I've been on the Downtoncrack since Series 1 debuted, thus I have gone through shivering, gut churning withdrawals twice now, and this third time is killing me.

Also psst it's 7 months till it airs in the US....it airs in the UK in Sept...so you know....just sayin'

While you are at it man, you may as well check out Series 1 & 2 of LUTHER. The OTHER best TV show out of Britain right now.
