They were slagging the atmosphere off on the radio. I dont know what these radio commentators expect, they sit and whinge their arses off about the standard of a game, and then complain about the fans not being loud enough. So what, are they supposed to cheer at a continual volume through shit play and good? I dont car ehwo you are, watch paint dry and you're less inspired to make noise, it's common sense.

Some italian saw you coming Cougar, I paid way less than that everywhere I went in Rome!

It wasn't amazing but it was decent, it deteriorated in the second half because city were totally toothless and Utd were cruising.

As for the beer, it was in the bar of the 5 star hotel I was staying in on honeymoon so it was always going to be expensive, plus Venice is far more expensive than Rome. I've been to bot a couple of times

Haha brilliant, the season's not even over and Rafa's already gone mad and started cranking out the excuses.

“But it will still be difficult, because if you analyse the power of Chelsea, or United and Arsenal, their stadiums and the money they can spend… people will say you have also spent some money but we have to change a lot of players and still they are spending more money than us and still they have more money than us."

I literally cant understand how he can say this.

First off, Stamford Bridge = 42k capacity, Anfield = 45k capacity, so the stadium income giving more power bit is just wrong. And when you think Arsenal are using most of the ticket income to service the building debts/costs, it's an even more bizarre claim to make.

But the main point - how much bloody money have Liverpool spent?!?! Benitez has a squad with more people in it than Lichtenstein. Who else can spend £20mil on a striker then sell him three months later for half the price?! That aside we're looking at £10mil on Kuyt, £20mil odd on Torres, £15mil or so on Mascherano, another £10mil on Alonso, and those are just the good players. Think of the Pennants', the Josemi's, the Gonzelez' and Morientes'.

Unless Im much mistaken, he's spent even more than Man U in recent years, surely. And certainly faaaar more than Arsenal.

Is Benitez trying to drum up more funds from the board, perhaps? Another summer spree could be in the offing, I think he's set on bringing Barry in. I can only see that as a mistake, to drop any of Mascherano Alonso or Gerrard would be mental, and Barry would expect to play.

Fuck, we'll have him if he is, I'd give you £20mil for Alonso no questions asked. I was so pissed off it fell through in the summer, he'd be brilliant at Arsenal.

I want Arsenal to get Alonso, Senna, Hangelaand, a keeper and another CB, maybe someone like Chiellini, this summer.

And if we lose Adebayor, use the funds to buy Amauri.

I tell you what, if Fergie still wants shot of Tevez, we'll have him!

It's odd, two great players have done well for their teams (Alonso and Tevez) and yet their managers still dont seem to want to keep them. I know Man U have plenty of attacking players, but if you can pay £30mil for Berbatoss you can pay £20mil for Tevez. I know he hasn't scored much in the league this season (what is it now, 5? Even Bendtner's got 9, the same as Berbatov!), but the energy and creativity he brings it great, plus he hasnt really started much.

Arsenal for them both, please. :p

EDIT: 2-1, Man U have won the league now. They only need a point against Arsenal at the weekend, and while I'd like to pretend Arsenal might give them a run for their money and maybe nick something, realistically the best that can be hoped for is that they dont just roll over and take it again, and at least manage a respectable scoreline.

Steve Bruce heaves a huge sigh of relief. Made it look like he really wanted to win the game but thankfully for him he lost. He'll be having a glss of red with Fergie now.

The point with Tevez, Toby is what else is available for that cash, it's a fucking lot and I've heard more like £30m than £20m. Benzema, had a poor season, could be snaffled. Gourcuff, Edin Zdeko. Andre- Pierre Gignac, Keirrison, Hernanes even Cavenaghi would potentially be avaiable for a lot less.

If I was Fergie I would take him for £10m, but he just doesn't get enough goals for the cost as much as you'd want to keep him.

I'd go all out to get Darijo Srna as a right back, he's class and could be had for a relatively modest fee. Then I'd go after Gourcuff, if Ancelloti doesn't leave Milan and Bordeaux can't find the £14m to keep him I reckon you could get him for less than £20m and try to get Keirrison from Palmeiras, I've seen him a bit and he rules.

Insipid, joyless, unadventurous performance but we are champions again, oh and:

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA , the only thing that wasn't brilliant about today was that because the scousers weren't playing at the same time I was deprived of one of my favorite sights: a sobbing scouser.

Well I didn't see the game but I think the best part is that we have leveled with the scousers and it doesn't matter what they do tomorrow!

A draw away from Europe, Fulham!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Go on you Cottagers, you can do it!

1) Because it would wind the spuds up and keep them out of Europe,
2) Because it means I once again get to explain loudly what a Cottager is to foreign friends in public places. Teehee!

Fairly dull game, Im amazed Arsenal got a point and werent completely shambolic, but Man U only needed a point so werent exactly gung-ho, and it seemed Arsenal were happy with a point too (with nothing to play for thats not a surprise), so no real shock it was a mediocre encounter.

I will say this though, Carrick is a diving fuck, Ronaldo must be contagious.

It is amusing that there's a tie so the scousers cant get out the old 18 titles line again. I dont like Man U, but if I had to hear "we've won it 18 times, so even though we havent won it recently, we're still the best" one more time I'd explode. Although I spose it'll turn to Champions League numbers now. What is it 5-3? Or 5-4 after next week I suppose.

Looks like the geordies are going down too, and Boro are definitely down, so thats a £20mil move for Downing by the spuds on the cards. The epitome of the phrase "more money than sense."

My Liverpudlian friend was annoyed this morning. But, yeah she brought out the 18 wins thing and went "well, you haven't beaten us have you, just drawn..."
I just told her that this was fine, I would come back in a year and mock her then. :)

Relegation day today, Im going for WBA, Boro and Hull. Someone always escapes on the last day, and Hull are set up for a fall against a "weak" Man U side and Newcastle have a chance to snatch a point at Villa.

Funny to hear Evra whinging about the Arsenal players injuring him the other week. I thought they were babies? What sort of man cries when a baby kicks him?

It's also particularly ironic to hear a bloke who gets into fights with stewards and who nearly ended Sagna's career when they were playing in France criticise people for being unprofessional or making dodgy tackles.:(

Yippee. Newcastle are down. You wait ages for one of those clubs that is a perennial disaster to finally get their just desserts, and then two come along at once (thank you Boro as well). I know Hull have been shit since christmas, but at least they tried to give it a go this year, and just don't really have great players. But Newcastle have no excuse.

Boro i have a tiny bit of sympathy for, since Steve Gibson really does want to do things the right way (encourages a youth policy at the club, and gives his manager tremendous support). Pity they can't seem to pick a decent manager though. I mean Southgate has looked so out of his depth it's not even funny.

He's taken it way too far though. Up until last season or so you could say Gibson was probably the best chairman in the league, but his refusal to sack a man clearly incapable of doing the job he's paid to do and who constantly repeats the same mistakes and the same platitudes over and over as the team degrades year on year is a disservice to the fans and has led to a team that really shouldn't have gone down to relegation (although the youth policy will stand them in good stead as the local lads will have loyalty- they will come up soon).
