likewise, our next serious game after that that's been scheduled is J_slr's
Warhammer 40k game.

J, any word on that?

right, if we don't hear from DiBs by tomorrow, i'm moving the dice game down the list.
our next mini after that is Tapper's Mexican standoff.
I don't know if tapper would be willing to mod two in a row, and alt seems to be firewallled at work, so either someone will have to step up with a mini, or we may go straight to JA + Gavin's game, as it promisises to be less difficult that origianlly stipulated.

thoughts, concerns, suggestions?

given that i am ill and off work its probably not a good idea to try running a game at the oment. i will run the dice game after the next full game instead.

all right then

so, it's either Tapper/any volunteer for a mini, or we go right to JA's game...

Well, I have a lot of work to catch up to, so I'll have to pass for Mexican Stand-off now... besides, it is near finished but not completely, and I want to redo some stuff after what I learned in this game :(

Also, it has been a long while since we last had a normal standard game (Morgoth's game), so maybe we should do a regular first?

I think Gavin's setup is reasonably "regular", so we could have it next

I agree that we need a standard mini. There have been a few people who wanted to play, but didn't want to start on a complicated game, Tehol Beddict for one.

i'm good either way, tbh

ETA: if GAvin + JA's game is suitably "normal"
we can just play that.

meat + potatoes games don't NEED to all be minis, after all...

The whole concept that a high tmdi game is more complicated then a standard game is a total misnomer... In a standard you have greater chance for fake reveals and wonderful mischief. The only way to learn to swim is to jump in the deep end.... :snigger:

I agree, but at least you can have a clue as to whats going on. I'm going to have all the roles listed down so people know what to expect, probably a couple ones people haven't seen before but they're just varations on the standards more or less. Although one is a bit of a new one.

JA and I are still working through a theme as its no longer Halloween, but I'll raise a sign up thread up the flagpole and see who salutesanyway. Game I guess has to start Monday, a Friday then straight into weekend break probably isn't a great idea. I'll see how sign ups go.

Yeah, I'm still pretty firewalled. Gonna try use my phone as a modem and see how that works, but I havent been given a computer yet. I should hopefully be able to mod my game by the time it hits the top of the list..

There's no such thing as a mini any more. Even with 12 players (which is not very many for this site, but still probably what we used to call "standard"), the game could still last well over a week.

hmm
the dice game's intended for 7 players--that may be a mini by old standards
by new standards, anything under 15 people's a "mini"

trust me the dice game wont last long when i get round to running it. 7 people all being batshit crazy, oh craziness is a requirement, if you sign up you must be prepared to be insane. you know i could run it with an open heaven and altless if people wont cheat :)

Has anyone else read the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson? I'm almost finished the third book and there are a couple of aspects to the world/magic system that would make very interesting mafia mechanics. Unfortunately I cant really see a way to set up a game to be remotely balanced or reasonably in line with the world. So if anyone else has read the books and has some ideas feel free to PM me.

I'm currently trying to develop a Highlander-themed Mafia game, including a system of power-absorption. No cult, classic Scum vs Town, but with more than enough twists.

If I don't get a fancy result anytime soon, I'll use that slot to run a 17-player, story driven Espionage game instead. With incredibly difficult and new mechanics, too. TMDI 10+ for sure.

If Ment or JA would be so kind to add me to the mod list as a Mafia X: Work In Progress, then much obliged.

I'd also like to run a Iliad game, as after bringing it up in the current game it has gotten so good feedback. The people talking with me know who they are, so if they would be interested in working with me that would be cool. Can't tell who they are cause that would hurt the current game but...

I had a few ideas, was thinking either
1) Greeks v. Trojans with their respective gods helping their side. Add a mechanic where the Greek/ Trojan heros can challenge another to one-on-one combat. Kinda like vig, but more like the Russian Roulette from DiBs mini.

2) When Odysseus and Diomedes sneak into Troy itself senario. So this would be Killers vs. Inno (city).

3) I also saw a Odysseus' return to Ithaca idea, so perhaps that person would be interested. This isn't my idea but I am throwing it in for the moment as it goes with the topic.

Let me know what you think. This would be great I think.
