This is based on the assumption D'rek would want a low tmdi break between hers and ment';s game.

Definitely! Not only was Ment's game also a high-tmdi, but it was a cult game too (albeit not *just* a cult game)!!! And even though mine is a totally different kind of cult game, it'd still be two high-tmdi cult-games back to back - BIG NO-NO!

I'm away around the July 1 weekend and Silencer is away the first week of July. I'm sure this next mini will go at least into the middle of next week, so I'm not looking to start Espers anytime in June, really. First week of July could work quite well for it, but we're pretty flexible.

D'rek when are you running your game? Would I be able to start Dresden 2.0 around July 30th? I'm would assume we need time for your game and then a low TMDI or two?

I think we were aiming to start next week? How is the current game going, on day 4 I think? More importantly, to people feel up to playing an overwhelming high-TMDI game next?

>> If everything is okay for starting sometime next week, then that is what we'll do.
>> If people are game for it, but the current game goes long we'll start right after it end.
>> If people aren't game for it, we will push it back to later.

You can never be sure with these things, but I don't expect Espers to be a very long game - somewhere between 1.5 and 3 weeks (real time). So if it starts early July that should leave lots and lots of time for another game and then Dresden by July 30th, assuming that's how the order in the first post goes (I haven't checked).

Espers time? Are people okay with a crazy TMDI 10+ game or need another low(er)-key game?

Question about the way other Forums Mod their games.
Being extremely new to Mafia, I assumed it was BASICALLY all the same.
But I was checking out the structure of my old forum and:

They don't use alts. They all use their main login names. Is the use of alts considered more prevalent, or the opposite? Meta? I don't think I'd like not using alts. Guessing who's who is awesome. Trying to find and kill Khel is awesome. Although Tats officially has taken that spot for now.

Check their MoD rules out.

1. Absolutely NO out-of-thread communications may be either entirely or partially quoted, screen-capped or in any other way directly provided within the game thread.
2. If I think you are employing tactics that are outside the spirit of the game, I will modkill you.
3. Days will be about 72 hours, and nights will be 48 hours max, weekends are the same as normal days.
4. There will be normal mafia format with kills at night and lynches at day.
5. No direct personal insults allowed.
6. No takebacks for night actions, once you send it in, it's done.
7. All night actions must be submitted in the deadline or it is forfeit
8. Night and day will stay open until the deadline or until all actions have been done.
9. This is a Hammer Game.
10. If you are dead, you get one post saying that you are dead and good luck or whatever, no actual information related to the game can be posted now.
11. NO editing your posts.
12. You cannot quote the mod or game the mod.
13. You can ask me questions, but answers other than PAFO is not guaranteed.
14. GFY
15. Please submit all actions and questions in the same PM as the role PM, I do not want too much spam in my messenger.
16. This is a basic game with some twists, if you are familiar with Red's basic games, this may be even harder than that.
17. All votes and unvotes must be bolded in the color red, unvote before voting again.
18. The time the game starts will be officially anounnced after we get 16 people, but at the very earliest the game will start Monday, june 11th.
19. Please only post in the game thread if you are part of the game, please do not spam this thread too much either, I will allow some spam, but not too much.

That's not much different than here. The biggest difference is the day and night times - this game would be a much slower game than ours are here in ME. Since with 48 hour nights anyone should be able to get online at least twice each night, there's no need for provisionals, hence why they have no provisionals or "take-backs" allowed.

As for alt-less games, we do run them every now and then, especially in minis, but as you already noted there's lots of meta that goes into those games, so it is generally only for "fun" games where people are not taking winning as seriously.

@D'rannisaurus Reks

Yeah. The no alts and timeline alone was enough to make it seem weird to me.
But they also said no spam or insults!

Wtf is Rule 14?

14. Go Fuck Yourself. At least, that was what my mind leapt immediately to.
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

Alted mafia was new to me when I started here, as was the speed.
Where I used to play day was usually a 3 week affair with about the same amount of posts as a busy day here, with a 3 day night.
but the rules are standard enough no communication unless the mod allows it, keep it civil and don't post too much bullshit.

"Keep it civil" is probably the most off thing here other than speed of the game. Malazan Mafia is drenched with the souls of would be killed morons/fucktards/idiots etc.

As for 14, I also thought of "Go fuck yourself", but that doesn't seem consistent with the above rule.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Well, our boiler plate is a lot more lawyerish, with its sections and subsections. It looks different.

Also, the times make a huge difference. Basically, a game day takes an entire week in their set-up, where we roll a much tighter schedule. Night time has been gradually reduced - I think that from when I started playing, The Princess Bride was iirc one of the first to be provisionals only and near instant resolution (before then, 12 hours was deemed long enough for everyone including the mod to come online and post/resolve an action): I know that when I installed a 24 hour night in Spycraft I was doing something very retro. The fact that night is a dead time here also plays a role - a long night thus becomes a mini-weekend break. Would be curious to see if the same is true at Brujah's home forum.

I also know of another forum where players get to pick their own alt names, and where there is a rota of posts (so you can post once and then everyone else has to post in order before you can post again) and where the mod allows off-thread comms if they suit RP. Needless to say, they're much more RP orientated (giving players experience points that lead to boons that carry over to future, unrelated games is another such issue) than we are.

Meh, I think that on the whole, we 're be a nice bunch of people, the occassional rant/blow up aside. Besides, 9/10 a rant is against an entire train, not against a single person, which makes it less personal anyhow. That being said, there was a time where I was as a mod actively patrolling language - which was at times necessary. Oh well.

*Ahem*

So I have returned, but it looks like Espers was the last game, which would mean Dresden which is also a 10+ shouldn't be run right away. Do we have any low-TMDI games for people to run before the Dresdantics start?

There was a low TMDI game that just ended, but not sure if Dresden and Espers warrant a 2 mini gap between them.

Yeah, I can run that at any time. If Obi wants to run a high TMDI or people would rather that I can go after it, no bother, just whatever suits.

Depending on when Obdi's game starts/ finishes, I'd like to claim a game number and time slot for Tales of the Desert 1.

last week of august, 1st week of september (even better) would all be valid starting dates.
I had hoped to have everything finished for the entire ToD cycle of games (outside of role PMs), that won't succeed, but a near complete Retainer/ item/ building roster will be there. 19 players required.
