I thought the actual review on the blog was a little spoilerish - I know Pat tends to outline plots, but telling us that Shadowthrone and Cotty manipulate the ending seems a spoiler to me...
Judiciously avoiding the marked posts. >_>
Aside from that though, good review that has me really hyped for the book. Which I won't get till July the 4th most probably.

Similar thoughts here.. I like that Pat outlines the plot and that I now can [linet]anticipate[/linet] drool on some specific things (Gruntle & Mappo together - awesome, Rake's past - double awesome, assassins trying to kill BB's - triple &¤"#¤/%"# awesome) but I felt that the last bit about ST & Cot was bit too much.
Perhaps it proves not to be that big of a deal in the end, but now I will be expecting some last-minute trick or similar by the esteemed duo.

Meh, that review did nothing but further whet my appetite. No complaints here. It sounds effing awesome
I'd like to read some other reviews though. Too bad I can't find any. Are there any?

Apparently Transworld does not generally send out ARC's so it might take a while still to get more reviews.

haha, I read 1/3 of the review and dropped it. Can't bear reading any more spoiler materials. As for Paran, it's a real shame that we won't be seeing much of him in ToH. But then, that's probably expected. Now that he's Master of the Deck, if the book focusses on him too much, it's the same as giving away the game... which SE would never ever do!
um well... exchanging Paran's screen time for an elevation in power.

hey pat (and others who have read Toll):
do you think it is worth it to reread MOI? I need something to do while I am waiting for my book and stuck in the woods of Washington state with my in-laws. Will it help me understand what's up in Toll if MOI is fresh?

If you're a total nut like me who hasn't read MoI in two years but still knows the whole book then no.
If you remember the main caracters and the finale then you will be fine.

I had the same sort of reaction. I've actually managed to "trick" myself into believing I never read the review

ha, then what are you doing posting on this thread:p
have to say i agree with the score you gave tth pat, but i didnt find the book slow at all. I thought the pacing for the most part was totally spot on, if anything the storylines with minor characters and new characters could have been devloped more. Overall, thoroughly impresse dby the book, i just couldnt put it down!!!
oh and, pat, no pictures, it didnt happen!!
