We have heard July 1st for the UK, sometime in September I believe for the U.S.

Though everytime a MBotF comes out, people either buy it in a bookstore before the "confirmed release date" or get it online before...so....yeah

Thanks Xander.

What do you mean people buy it before the confirmed release date?

The books wont be released to anyone ( including book stores ) before the release date correct?

Are you perhaps refering to piracy?

Book stores, much like video game/music stores, get their 'new releases' before the release date, sometimes weeks. There is a rumor that a place called 'waterstones' in the UK has them on their shelves before the release dates.

Amazon.uk has Toll comming out on the first, and SE starts a tour in the UK on the first, so I would guess that is the date. I havn't seen any confirmation from SE or the publisher, but thats about as close as we can get without it.

Yeah, the books get shipped to the stores a week or so before the release date. Some books, the big sellers, are specifically limited so they can't be sold before the release date, but Erikson doesn't sell enough to swing that, so far;) I picked up Reaper's Gale about a week before it's official release date.

But yes, July 1st is the date confirmed for the UK release.

Thanks for clarifying Obdi.

SoD, Release dates are sometimes.....flexible. Books get put out before them all the time.

UK release dates for the MBFs routinely jump ahead of Canada by a month or two. That said, while i preordered my hb from the UK, i did spot RG (softcover only )in Canadian stores a full two weeks ahead of the amazon.ca release date.

To date i think i only spotted hb editions in Canada nearly six month after the amazon.ca release date.

There are 'hard' and 'soft' releases for books. 'Hard' releases are generally very high profile books and publishers are very strict about making sure books are not released in advance - think Harry Potter. Most books fall into 'soft' releases, where publishers don't care overly much on when the books are actually released for sale. Generally books arrive at stores a week or two prior to release, for a soft release, many stores will shelve the book when they receive it, which can be in advance of the official release date. Erikson's books are soft releases and in the past people have been able to find them up to 2 weeks before the official release date.

TtH will be released on July 1st in the UK (and probably Canada) with a US release date in September. I exchanged emails last week with SE's publicist who indicated that her review copies were coming soon (she should have them by now). In the past, Transworld has not publishered ARCs like you often see and sends out the final book to reviewers just prior to the offical release. This is what I imagine is happening again here. What this all boils down to is that I believe that the final version of the book has come off the printers and will be shipping to booksellers shortly. I think it is probably worth the time to keep an eye out at bookstores for an early, soft release that could occur shortly. If you see that a reviewer has gotten a copy (like me), then it's probably a good sign that the books have begun arriving at bookstores.

Of course, I could be wrong.

Amazon Canada is showing the Bantam paperback as out Aug 5 and the hardcover on Sept 23. Both Tor editions on Sept 16. Just weird...

Amazon.co.jp also delivers on the 3th or 5th of July. Both editions hardback and paper back

Official reply from Bantam/Transworld :-

Hi Hazel – we’re timing things to coincide with the start of Steve’s tour here so copies should start appearing in store from Monday 30th June…
And yes, indeed – will see you at some point

So clearly i should set up the surveillance cameras and audio bugs on my local post office this week, and start poisoning (nothing fatal, just a diluted ebola virus - a little propulsive vomitting and bloody diarheia and they'll be fine in a month or so.... maybe some bleeding from the fingernails and delerium...) the more inept employees there so they aren't working when my hb arrives.

-Abyss, has learned from experience.

That's definately one method to consider.
