I want Spain to win purely because I don't want a Germany vs Italy final. I would actually like to see a Russia vs Turkey final but I doubt that is going to happen...

I got up early to watch that stupid game, and then the satellite feed went down with ten minutes to go in extra time. I was so bored i didn't really care enough to see if the signal came back.

I'm only glad to see that Italy (the scourge of football) have finally been eliminated. Hopefully Russia or Spain will go on to win this thing. And finally give us someone a bit different. I left Turkey out of that since i can't see how they'll get past Germany with all their injuries and suspensions.

my opinion for whats its worth is that spain will ease past russia(not 4-1 again) but they dont play as open as holland and there is no way all of holland players were totaly focused after the tragedy that struck boulahrouz. so im going to say 2-1 spain.

It didn't seem like the Dutch were all that down about Boulahrouz. I've never really gotten the impression from any soccer team that they were tightly linked and ready to stand up for each other. Two or three of them maybe, but not the entire team.

It might be the larger dimensions of the playing field forcing that emotional distance, as opposed to the closer confines of the basketball court or the trench warfare of football and rugby.

The reversal of course is baseball. The 2004 Red Sox genuinely loved each other.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.
