But that's good. Football really is getting more popular here. If only kids thought they could make more money doing it and greater fame (in America) they'd stick with it and our best athletes would go pro in the sport.

It's better for the sport if America gets into it.

America's problem with football is the leaue setup you guys have got set up. Season is very short, and as a result the games are far too close together, no time for players to rest enough or train enough, and the quality suffers significantly as a result.

And I was also joking;) 8.45pm for the majority of europe, and it makes sense - plenty of people home from work to watch it, and you can stuff the fans in the bars and pubs all day before the match, get as much money out of the event as possible. Morning/lunchtime matches earn a lot less overall than evening ones.

Well it's a building process. It's gonna take time. Once the sport gets a foothold, it will only grow. I know the MLS is a joke to you guys, but the quality has already increased in 10 years. It's baby steps.

Aye, for sure, but it does need a serious restructuring to improve much more.

Indeed. That's why a lot of the club's owners/managers are getting as much input/help from the European leagues as possible.

Quote

The MLS SuperDraft is an annual event in which the Major League Soccer teams select players who have graduated from college or otherwise been signed by the league. The SuperDraft was first instituted in 2000, as a combination of the MLS College Draft, in which players having graduated college were selected, and the MLS Supplemental Draft, in which all other players were chosen. The draft is divided into four rounds of fourteen picks, the order of which is determined by a combination of the teams' playoff and regular season positions, with the last placed team getting the first pick.

Absolute LUNACY.

MLS having a draft situation is silly in my opinion.

To be fair that's to be expected - not the first sport in either country, but a population of 300 million in the US compared to a population of under 300k in Barbados. ;)

It's like when Australia have to play qualifying matches against Tonga, or Germany beating San Marino 14-0 away from home.

And Klasnic becomes the first kidney transplant recipient to score in the tournament, as Croatia go 1-0 up.

Pranjic got the assist, which is good for me. ;)

There's a guy in my german class whose surname is Fuchs, I piss myself everytime I see it. ;)

does anyone else think that the tackle that gave away the free kick to germany(that ballack scored from) was not a foul- only seen it once so dont judge me to harshly but i thought the austrian got the ball.

Me too :D

Must say, Senor Mackenzie is on fire this round... Yakin, Nihat and now Ballack as captain. Trust me to have transferred Ballack out for bloody Ronaldo this turn ;)

How sad to see us bottling our way out of a competition - again. It seems to be a flaw in the makeup and it's really odd that a bunch of Poles, of all people, should be bottlers. Shame on them.
