eek! I'm so exited...why? Its not even my country! I blame the media...

Funny you should say that Frook, more people were paying attention to the U.S. Election and it's goings on here in Canada than we were to our own election last month. They were doing news pieces on the fact that no one was watching the Candian debate because it was on the same night as the U.S. vice presidential.

I'm actually quite frightened of the future of our country with Obama at the helm. Frightened enough to go out and vote.

QUOTE (Stalker @ Jan 23 2009, 01:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."

I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.

This will be the 3rd US election night I have followed on tv. I find it interesting and it does have a direct effect on my country so I watch for as long as I can stay awake. The last 2 US elections I followed had me going to bed feeling like the world was sane around 2-3am GMT, thinking it will be a Democrat win after the East Coast numbers have come in. Then I woke up to the terror of George W Bush :p

Anyway, this election is just darn well interesting with the whole race and gender thing going on and the BBC always has people on that remind me The West Wing. Martin Sheen is going to win, right?

I dont really know what you mean? Voting against themselves? Isn't that the point of voting? If everybody agreed then voting wouldn't be necessary.

What he meant is that the Democrats represent the poor people, and the Republicans represent the wealthy, but it's generally the poor who vote Republican.

I'm sorry, but this is a tremendous misconception (not to mention a gross oversimplification).

Wow. Maybe you're right man. Soon after his victory he will manage to achieve a peace treaty in Izrael, yet another feat that will boost his authority and image. Heck, many ppl worship him already. Maybe not as in worshiping him as in praying to him or anything, but still....
Just a thought though. Thought I'd share it here :p

It's 200 -124 now. Obama took Ohio! OH-IO! Obama can win now with nothing more than Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii.

Im used to holland.

I don't have a TV, and there's only one media room in my dorm with a TV, so I was worried there were going to be a bunch of Republicans in here wanting to watch FOX news. But instead it's just the exchange students - two Dutchies and a German. :p

Yep, the magic number is reached, he's won.
And there is much rejoicing!

Now I can go to sleep without nightmares (it's 5 AM here)

Obama didn't just win ... we all won.

I mean, I'm sorry to be idealistic, but ... this is definitely for the best for the country, and the world.

I think Obama will win quite comfortably, just to be honest.

Five points? 10? 20? What's "comfortable"?

We can do predictions on www.270towin.com

I have Montana, Nevada, North Carolina all going blue. Penn will stay blue. Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, North Dakota all go red.

Obama wins 309-229. Comfortably in the EV stakes.

I underestimated the comfort level. :p

WOOOOOOOO!!!!! I feel funny. I've never voted in an election where my candidate won before. I'm not sure how this is suppose to feel. I'm just used to being depressed and wanting to cry after the results come in, all this happiness is a little disconcerting.
