Wow...that's a cool image. Obama now looks like some Nerd from MIT who wants to recalibrate your Ion streams, and McCain like some genial old grandpa who's gonna take you fishin'

that map of counties is scary though..whole swathes of people who've never seen the State Line and think Smokey and The Bandit is a documentary...

Watching half of your contries populace getting swindled to vote against themselves every election is not 'funny' in any way.

I meant the obvious divide, the fact people in cities have opinions so different from people in the country is funny, in an intellectual way, since I've never been to America.

I dont really know what you mean? Voting against themselves? Isn't that the point of voting? If everybody agreed then voting wouldn't be necessary.

The fact that there's only two parties to vote for, and that whoever wins, even by a small margin, gets complete power is a pretty stupid, undemocratic system to be fair. However now we're getting into a really big political discussion and I don't think that's the point.

In the Netherlands we vote for a lot of different parties, and the amount of votes decides the amount of 'sway' one party has. Seems a lot fairer to me.

What he meant is that the Democrats represent the poor people, and the Republicans represent the wealthy, but it's generally the poor who vote Republican.

Tried that Apt...

Terez nailed what Obdi was saying, my 45 attempts to post a response failed.

Finally... what's wrong with cornfields?

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Try and post a description of your problem in the admin area and I'm sure one of the mods might be able to help.

Terez ~ Man there's completely empty in the middle of the US. Just lots and lots of cornfields and canabalistic hillbillys.

Ahh I see, ok, makes sense I guess. But you can't really blame anyone but the people themselves if they dont find out what they're actually voting for.

And yeah I saw the maps a few pages back, pretty cool, entire country can be red except for a few cities and its still more than anything. XD Im used to holland, where everything's crowded. :p

It seems to me though, that a lot of the american elections focus on popularity, and less on actual political points. Granted, I haven't done that much research, just a few polls and they all said obama, but I don't really see the candidates political viewpoints advertised as much as their actual charisma and speeches. I listened to an hour and a half speech from Obama, and most of it was about himself and about general values, like, Im gonna change america! Im gonna stop it being poor! But not really how. Im sure he mentions it in other speeches/texts/leaflets, but it doesn't seem to be the prime point, which it usually what dutch political speeches are like. Granted its less boring and more fun, we always get the boring nerds in charge, but at least theyre in charge because they know what they're doing. Well they still mess up but yeah.

6. For those who don't want to watch all of it, if Indiana does not get called within 30 minutes (polls close here at 6:00 p.m. EST, first to close), or it's "too close to call" after 45 minutes or so, Democrats/liberals start celebrating because Obama wins big.

I think that the U.S. crumbling world respect has a lot to do with this. It's harder to get things done around the world when the biggest power in the world is disrespected, disliked, hated, and every other major world power is suspicious of its intentions. Obama has promised to re-engage with the rest of the world on an even base, and not try to bully countries into doing what the U.S. wants. Plus, people don't like to admit how large an impact things in the U.S. have on their own country... but they do know it deep down, so you are obviously self-interested.
