Rofl.

But yeah Obama seems a better choice, it's funny how your "left wing" democrats would be classified as extreme right winged in most countries here in europe though. Obama might be the most democratic there is in America but if he was in politics in Holland he'd be the very least "democratic" ever.

But yeah gogo elections, wanna see what happens, and Im fankly getting tired of seeing this in the news all day for the past 3 months. I know Holland isn't too exciting but damn.

As an outsider, I don't see how McCain can win. But then I thought that about Bush in the last 2 elections (there is no accounting for the fact that the majority of American's are mental ). Watching tv in DC, Obama's money really shows and he makes great speeches. I love how the Republicans are trying to make out his eloquence is a bad thing!

I also kept seeing cardboard cutouts of Obama and McCain in the shops. Are they to scale? Is Obama really that much taller than McCain? Or are they printed by Democrats? McCain is teeny! I'm taller than him!

The great majority of Americans are ignorant. Witness the choice of Palin as a strategy to win this election. Even so, I'm delighted that in my lifetime Obama actually has a chance to win this election. I do pity whoever wins, however, cuz the problems are mountainous.

There's a nice ignorant comment for you.

Do the americans get to vote for who they want as their vice president? I thought the Presidential candidate picked them themselves?

The Presidential candidate chooses a running mate, but they are listed separately on the ballot so theoretically, I suppose, it's possible that someone else could be elected.

I read somewhere that more women vote in the election than men in the good ole US of A, how will this affect things? Isn't this fact going to fall in the favour of the Mcain Camp due to the likelihood of him falling over after a year in office, meaning that a woman might just make it to the hotseat?

Female voters are traditionally more likely to vote Democrat, or so I read. Sarah Palin leaves me extremely confused! I should be pleased there is a woman up there but she is repugnant. When I imagined a female trail blazer making it so big in US politics, I assumed she'd be ......ummmm..... not like Sarah Palin. It's such a disappointment! I wanted Hilary Clinton to make the Democrat nomination because I wanted to see a woman in the White House. Now I hope the US does everything they can to keep that crazy lady out!!

Most recent polling results I could find:
Overall, Palin is viewed favorably by 47% of likely voters and unfavorably by 40%. But her numbers are worse among women than men: 45% of all women surveyed have a negative opinion of Palin, compared to 42% who view her positively. Fifty-two percent of men have a favorable opinion, while 35% are in the unfavorable camp.

http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/...3,00.html?imw=Y

Since then apparently her unfavorable ratings among all voters have been rising.

Yea you can vote from about 7am until 8 or 9 pm here.

RLY is just being lazy, or maybe he has hot plans for the wife on tuesday night.

Lots of people around here are saying the same thing as RLY, and it worries me because it means McCain is getting your vote. Do you think the McCain backers are going to sit around and not vote? That is the ONLY chance McCain has at this point, that Obama's supporters are lazy and assume they have won, and so don't vote.

Bah.

How is McCain getting my vote? I'm voting. For Obama. I think you missed something. I'm just sending it in, instead of going and voting in person.

I don't think you can vote for Pres/vice pres seperately. I believe they are listed as one choice, you vote for Obama/Biden or McCain/Palin.

yeah, now that I've looked into I believe you're right -- you vote for a "team". Sorry, I've only been voting for 40 years now, I guess I'm one of those ignorant Americans.

If it was laziness or apathy causing me not to vote, then I'd be mad at me too.

But I think both candidates are platters of shit with broken glass in them.
I suppose I could just write someone in, but either way, since I am making a concious decision I don't feel I'm abandoning my duty as a voting American. If I'm not allowed to abstain out of protest, then voting is no longer a privilage but an enforced ritual.

Yeah, there's a box that says "Abstaining due to protest" to check off somewhere.

Write your preferred candidate in. There's hundreds of them out there. Ron Paul is probably the best known alternative still going.

Cheers Ch'arlz. So the Palin combo was not the way to go, but like people are saying polls don't count for sheet metal. If the strange thing happens and middle America from rises up in an orgy of racist fervor...Ze black man haz no chance?

And I definitely think things have changed because Mcain is a real American chip..hero, after Arnies approval we looks like we is getting the wrinkliest American President ever :killingme:

I was going off on a tangent. People who think Obama already won, who would be voting for obama, and don't, are essentially giving McCain a vote.

I heard that prank call on the radio today. It's about the most embarrasing thing I've ever heard... mostly because I thought all the jokes about palin were just that, jokes, but she really is stupid isn't she?
