Both sides demonize each other all the time! If that equals hate-mongering, then our country is worse off than I thought. :)

Republicans do it more Shin. It's their tactic. Look what they did to John Kerry in 2004. Disgraceful.

You have got to be kidding me. No one has been more demonized than president bush (and cheney) by the dems over just about everything.

Personally, I don't mind because I have not been a supporter of the bush presidency and feel they deserve a lot of the criticism, but to say that the republicans do it more is ridiculous.

He probably meant that Republicans earn it more. :)

Don't throw Bush at me, he deserves every bit.

Go review everything that was twisted about John Kerry 4 years ago. THAT is demonizing. OH wait...or you could just call it LYING.

Actually, I rarely here liberal commentators demonizing an entire philosophy like conservatives try to do with more liberal political philosophies. Hannity & Rush are the most well known who do this.

I won't say that liberals are free of disingenuinely criticizing politicians, but you don't generally here them state something like this: "the conservatives in this country are trying to destroy the constitution by incorporating bibilical philosophies", or "conservatives are destroying the constitution and the country by breaking down the wall between church and state." You just don't hear those blanket demonization of politics, and not politicians from libs very often, and you do here it from conservatives.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

It's not like McCain has much of a choice at this point. He just isn't going to win this election on the issues. The only way he can win is by making Obama look risky and inexperienced and by basically slinging a lot of mud at him and hoping that something sticks (like the flip-flop crap with Kerry).

Having said that, I still think his campaign is doing a fantastically bad job of making this happen. Most of the attacks are ludicrous.

People who want a reason to not vote for Obama don't need a good reason. Any will suffice.

I liked how Obama said he'd try to tackle the economic problems of the US by gathering several experts on economics to try to find a solution, whereas McCain said he'd solve it by balancing the budget.

Obama said Bi-Partisan experts.

McCain is just going to... you know... put it on stilts and watch it balance.

I don't think he can save the world.

I think he isn't going to invade Iran.

There is my one reason.

But when has McCain ever said he would? Oh wait, you think he is Bush 3 right? I get it. But you are okay with him wanting to "have talks" with know terrorists? And being associated with Faracon(sp?) and following a fanatical racist as a pastor? Obi, you are from Chicago right?
I thought you of all people would understand what a terrible job Obama would do as president. I mean, don't get me wrong, McCain is useless as well, but Obama is just ignorant And this isn't an insult at him so far as Book Knowledge goes, but he seems to know nothing of what it takes to run a nation. Hillary would have done a better job and shes the devil!

I just want to know what Obama has accomplished to make him the better choice. No one can tell me this, all they do is reinerate his promise of change. Well, every politician promises things, but they never ever keep those promises. So what has Obama done to help Chicago in his half a year?

No, I am from MN.

What has McCain done to help anyone, ever? His role in the military was nothing close to a leadership role, but he touts that around as if it should make him the sure-win.

McCain scoffs at Obama for wanting to have talks with Iran, but McCain says 'something must be done' with Iran. So we dosen't want to talk to them, but he is going to do 'something'. What else is there? Either bombing or a full out invasion, neither of which is a good idea at all.

Hillary would have done a horrible job, all she does is pander to get votes, much as McCain is going to do.

The ONLY leg McCain has to stand on is his attempt to balance the budget, and he has even been backing off that, and just trying to shovel shit onto Obama.

I do not think McCain is Bush 3, but he is a helluva lot closer than Obama. You do know that repubs raise taxes, right? They just don't raise income taxes. They hike property taxes, sales taxes, anything except property taxes, and then claim only dem's raise taxes.

Frankly, I would vote for Jesse Ventura before either of those two chuckleheads, but like I said, Obama isn't going to start a war with Iran, so he gets my vote.

OK, first, Barry wants to TALK. We are currently and will continue to TALK. McCain doesn't want to attack, but as a nation we are a threat to Iran, therefore, by saying, we will talk, the Iran nation can sit back, talk to us, while planning a hostile takeover of Iraq, which is currently(although undeservedly) under our protection.

Second, Barry wants to DOUBLE the federal gains tax. Which means that if you are a small buisness owner, or a person who makes over 250,000 a year, your tax rates will double. Let me put this into perspective Tiger Woods make 170 million dollars last year, he currently pays 70 million in taxes and keeps 100 million. Under Barry's new tax plan he will pay in 100 million and bring in 70 million. Now this was not an accurate example, as I dunno how much Tiger made last year, but the point remains the same, the govenment will take more from the rich.

Now, I am not rich, but I know alot of small business owners, and if this happens they have 2 choices. Raise prices on their products(never a good idea as people hate to pay more for the same product) or they can reduce their overhead. I.E. Lay off employees. This is never good. So how is this Democrat better?

We both agree that neither of the candidates are good choices, but the sheer blind love that Barry recieves is terrifying. He's a SOCIALIST! I hate debating this crap, because it never makes a differnce, and ends up getting people pissed at each other. Obi, I consider you a friend, and so will stop this right now. I am out of this discussion. Before I say something that pisses you off and you try to kill me in future mafia games. (Like I am trying to do to you now, lol).

Lol. I don't mind debating, and Don't allow it to influence how I view/interact with people.

You are, in my opinion, buying into the Repub propaganda. This tax change will not increase the tax that small buisiness owners pay unless they are making over 250k a year in INCOME. Not what their buisiness makes, but them personally.

As for currently 'talking' with Iran, not really. The current administration's foreign policy is pretty much 'Do what we say, or we will damage your country, either through invasion or bombing'.

Want to talk about McCain's latest Television add which is attempting to portray Obama as the devil? Literally. As. The. Devil.

So am I, which probably explains why I like him so much. Actually, he isn't really a socialist at all, there is no way he would get away with campaigning on the nationalisation of certain industries or massive wealth redistribution.

As long as we keep this civil I think we can have constructive debates.

I livein the Bible belt. For those of you don't know what this is, it is a group of states in the southern part of the country that follow strict Christian guidelines. Where i live the census is that Obama is the anti-christ. Nothing to do with race, more simply the fact that he is the epitomy of pop culture, let anyone do anything as long as its fun etc. Are you sure you want to discuss it? lol.
