I know, but when McCain has raised almost 100mil and Obama is going to be around 200mil, why should they use federal money?

the two main points to it are fairness and so the elected isnt partial to donors. if big oil donates 100million to mccain he'd probably be partial to them when it comes to a major decision. if uaw donates 100million to obama its the same thing

You know, despite my candidate of choice's huge advantage of money, I'd rather they were given no money for ads and shit. I think it should be debates on TV and on the Radio, and radio advertisement and that's it. Let's keep those lame TV ads off the air.

I think more campaigning should be done on the internet as well. I don't care about TV ads. Don't watch TV.

I think there should be less campaigning, and a bunch of mandatory debates. Make them stand up toe to toe in front of the country and explain why they are the best choice. If they want to call their opponent out with some negative crap, make them do it face to face.

This probably doesn't come as a surprise, but Obama's rhetoric doesn't make me happy at all. When he goes on and on about how government hasn't helped people and government hasn't been there for people in trouble and government hasn't taken care of this, that and the other thing I hear:
"You need more government in your life, and I'm going to bring it to you."
I'm fine, thank you. I don't need any extra government in my life.
BTW, I still voted for him in the silly poll, even though I won't vote for either of these two clowns in November. The reason? When confined to those 2 choices, I'll happily vote against anyone who thinks attacking Iran is a good idea. That's the #1 reason I give a big F-you to McCain.
Of course, what keeps me coming back and thinking maybe McCain is a good idea is I like balance between congress and the presidency. If they oppose each other all the time, then they can't screw things up (like the rubber stamping republicans and Bush). If the Dems hold everything, they'll rubber stamp Obama's socialist agenda. Either way, we're screwed.

I disagree with you on a lot of things, but this is right on. Everything else could become irrelevant if our new pres invades Iran. Horrible idea, and in an extreme could literally lead to the end of the world. Worth considering on your way to the voting booth.

I wasn't nearly as anti-Mccain as I am now back when he was not looking like a Bush clone. Now though, I hear him speak and hear the same crap that I've been listening to for the last 8 years.

Yeah, I'm more of a pro-Obama voter this year than an anti-McCain one, despite being very anti-McCain. But I have cast anti-votes before...

No doubt. I would have voted for anyone running against bush last year.

If you don't vote, you can't complain either
Attacking Iran is the same type of "cowboy" politics and foreign policy that will only end up in more bloodshed and hatred.

yeah, you should get a card when you vote, that must be presented before being allowed to participate in any political discussion.
I have to say though, rabid conservatives who don't vote make me happy.

What if you weigh your decision and decide that your conscience is better served by withholding your vote in protest of the choices? Are you still not allowed to complain? Or if you vote 3rd party, do you get to complain louder than anyone else?

Just my 2 cents... I think the American public are sick of Republicans running the country, and want a change. Obama might lose most of the southern states, but no-one really cares about them, and he will win votes where it counts, imo.
(Just kidding, south. I like redneck humour and everything.

this is one of the things i always consider. the status quo is almost always better than the changes synced up legislature and presidency makes

The Republicans controlled Congress from 1995 to 2007. I take it you voted for every Democratic presidential nominee in that period.

Personally, I voted for the libertarian candidate in 2000 and Kerry in 2004. I can happily say I never voted for Bush. The only republican I've voted for was Dole in '96.
In a way, this is why I have trouble seeing McCain as "Bush2", because I've never liked Bush, and I don't mind McCain as much.
