Fair enough Stian, I guess everyone's entitled to their opinion. I just don't want anyone to wreck the stories by cutting bits out or casting total morons or the effects looking crap. It would be totally heartbreaking

Just to clear up Steven's current film and TV projects...
Film:
"Big Bluff", aka "Factory", a magic realist comedy
In active development and supported by Telefilm Canada, with a production schedule of summer 2005, and tentative premiere in Toronto 2005.
"Skinwalkers", a thriller
Second in line, currently under consideration at Telefilm.
"Chain of Dogs"
"Lawn Maintenance and the Primordial Soup", magic realist comedy
This is a finished script which has been put aside due to the popularity of "Chain"
TV
"The Dark", sci-fi series
Actively being shopped around...
"Some Old Bones", crusade series
The piece de resistance...what everyone here is looking forward to doing...
I would post synopsis, but am reluctant to spoil the stories...

Oops, I do apologise. You must understand, my sister has now kidnapped my books for her own Steven-fest of reading, leaving me no reference material.
How come my book's not called Chain of Dogs, or did I just thoroughly miss-read the title? The book I was supposed to refer to was House of chains, I do beg for forgiveness and pray I will not be too severely punished.
Oh, wait, that means, if I get your meaning, that (ohmygsohi'mgonnabesickwithexcitement), my most favourite book in the universe is gonna be made into a film!!!!!!!!!!!

I should check the forum more often! Luckily my friend cauthon keeps me informed
Such great news! Erikson, you're absolutely right in trying to find a producer who can give you strong influence on the final outcome of the movie.
Now that I almost finished my re-read of Deadhouse gates my memory of the Chain of Dogs is refreshed and I can't but be very eager on more news about the progress of the project. Keep us informed! My prayers are with u (not that they'll do much but..)

Hi all!
Just new to this site, but am loving it
With regards to music scoring suggestions for Chain of Dogs, I reckon any of the following:
James Newton Howard
Hans Zimmer
Howard Shore - though this may be remeniscent of Lord of the Rings...
Also, just a suggestion, but has anyone considered anime as a medium for this most excellent of series'? It allows for detailed scenery, fantastic effects, perfect renderings of characters, and the epic length would be easily be accomodated by a series. Most of all, book to movie adaptations by anime artists and directors have been meticulously true to the original story in the past.
Any thoughts?
p.s. Summer here in good 'ol Australia looks to be a scorcher

Peter Jackson it's a no no for the Chain Of Dogs films. He's already spent TEN YEARS on LOTR. I don't sdee a director who has spent that much time on one fantasy project commiting to another.
Amongst the multitude of possibilities are RIDLEY SCOTT and GORE VERBINSKI both taken very seriously by the industry and both with a very serious take on the material they tackle.

And do the film with Carmina Burana! Can't beat a good piece of music about monks in pubs with whores for a fantasy film!

You should try the BBC, they have no sponsors and thus will accept more original ideas without as much creative infringment.
