these are some sketches to show the process of getting the basic armour of the malazan infantry, it's based on the roman armour and the under padding of a medieval knight it's also the basis for the sapper pic as well as the Silchas pic

this was a sketch to show how a soldier might customize his uniform to lighten the weight of his shield arm and protect the sward arm

heavies generally big buggers.....yup!

just in case you're wondering I haven't forsaken colour I'm gonna get on the case of some hopefully 'whompin' pics pretty soon

I think they work great without the color, awesome as usual...

I like the fact that you've raked up more than 6000 reppoints just making art but you still don't have any reppower ;)

Look on your right, rep power is the amount of rep you can give to someone else.

I can deal out 541 points. You can deal out around 70 after you make your 20th post.

These are really good, but I have a few comments...

In general, only the heavies really have shields. Some of the marines have small shields, but very rarely. Also, we've been told on a very regular basis that the armour of a malazan soldier is made up of a jumbled mixture of whatever they can get their hands on. Try making it a bit les... regular.

I dig the non-world-of-warcraftiness of the armor. Too much stuff gets drawn in that style. This all seems more functional

My fave is the heavy. His armor just looks like it's meant to take and deflect some major blows.

Thse pictures made me shoot coffee out my nose. And the heavy soldier is especially frightening, in a good way.

Well they're all issued standardized Malazan armor when they first ship out. It's as they gradually proceed through campaign after campaign that they slowly exchange pieces of their uniform because a Holy Falah'd's helmet happens to land in their hands, etc.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

I agree, you are very talented Onrack.

And yeah that was in DG, but I'm not sure if it was just that group of sappers who did that for their special plan, or if all sappers have those.

HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.
