Yeah, big club Spurs lose their best players to the clubs they are supposed to be making ground on and then replce them with injury prone attacking midfielders. Since Spurs are now down to about 12 mediocre players competing for 4 positions I'd expect that £57m to be spent on around 25 centre mid journeymen.

Somehow they're shedding 4 lumps off to Sunderland, in what can only be described as a nail in Roy Keane's coffin. To decide that 4 blokes who cant get into a mid-table team are going to help Sunderland progress seems bonkers to me. Malbranque's the only half-decent player in the bunch, Lord knows why he wants the rest.

£23million, teehee:D

Spurs have apparently makde an official £16million approach to Zenit for Arshavin, hence confirming Coogs' comment about journeyman midfielders.
Oh, I suppose he's in the good books at the moment after the Euros, but he just had a very good couple of games, I suspect - he's not consistantly that good, and went missing in the semifinal. I'm more hopeful about reports of wanting Pavlyuchenko, I like him ;)

I'd take Arshavin and Paylyuchenko over Mollybonk, Chimbomby, Kaboul and Tainio anytime though.

I nearly fell off my chair when i heard the Spurs Sunderland transfer rumours. One can only hope that Kaboul's moaning will scupper the deal cos i thought he looked crap when i last saw him in a spurs shirt.
Chimbonda is another moany git i don't like, but I will say that he looked pretty decent in his first season up with Wigan. And he has pace.
Tainio is such an anonymous player I can't remember what he's like at all? A hard working, competent midfielder?
Steed is a touch of class though, provided you have the grafters around him. He is the type of creative player that Sunderland need.

Before i would really criticise the transfer though it is worth thinking about the rubbish players that they are replacing. It's amazing to think that Sunderland survived last season considering just how limited their players were.

As for all the other transfers, I'm amazed that Arsenal managed to get money for Hleb. Hopefully Al Nasri will be able to settle in a lot faster. And would the rest of them get a move on, and start the merry-go-round. There's only a few weeks to go, and it seems every striker in the premiership is about to move.

Arsenal are taking real gamble with Samir Nasri, he has incredible talent but there is a reason he was comparatively cheap. I hope he flourishes, cos at his best he is fabulous.

So, Liverpool have signed N'Gog. Quite why anyone would trust a relative of Boumsong to play football well is beyond me, but there we are. You have to wonder how much he'll play if Keane comes in, but he's only 19 so could be a good one for the future. Could end up as another Sinama-Pongolle though.

Meanwhile, Pompey have sold Muntari for £12.7mil to Inter, not a terrible price, but regardless he's one of their better players and they shouldnt really be selling him. Wonder who they'll bring in as a replacement? I cant think of any CM's on the market of a similar wuality who'd go to Pompey tbh.

SP? Who's that?

*is out of the loop*

As for the Arsenal kid, I think you might mean Nacer Barazite, he's coming along nicely but in true Arsenal style is hampered by being made of brittle. Made his first team debut in the CC against Newcastle, came on as a sub and it was tipped to be the start of his full break-through. After approximately 5mins on the pitch he got injured, was stretchered off and was out half the season and spent the rest regaining fitness.:o

He played in the friendly vs Barnet the other day, but I'd expect just to see him in the CC and a few sub appearances this year.

A quick internet search shows that he was at Recreativo de Huelva last year, but has signed for Athletico Madrid in the summer. What's the betting Benitez tries to sign him back? :o :p

So Sunderland are now the Spud Reserves team. Shameful. Any Sunderland fans, I both mock and pity you, it's a relegation dogfight for you guys this season after blowing all the transfer funds on those muppets.
