*Cue nostaligic singing with closed eyes and superbly out of tune bellow*:

"Mask Crusaders working overtime fighting crime FIGHTING CRIME!

Secret raiders who is la la la just to something or other

Tra la la gonna lead the mission someones got that super vision.

MASK! "

I am bad purely because im pointless. "

I agree with your general assessment of mordern day cartoons but there is one on at the moment that my kids watch that i find myself guffawing out loud at.

" Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends "

The little character Blue is well funny. Well funny.

Whoah Macros, do you even watch cartoons now a days? Try and rewatch things like Transformers or He-Man... trust me, it's not as good as you remember it. Certainly not better than what is produced now a days.

Here some stuff for you to look up. The New Batman, The Spectacular Spider-man, Avatar - The Last Airbender, Ben 10, Oban Star Racers, A.T.O.M, etc.

Especially Avatar and Oban Star Racers have great story lines that continue through several seasons.

what do you think I do with my day that I would have the time or inclination to investigate the validy of your claims?
When I bum out and watch daytime tv, the majourity of my channel hoping results are anime shit, whos main highlight is a yellow rat that shits lightning or something equally ridiculous.
kmmontandon has it right, theres non of the classic stuff like bugs bunny, elmer fudd, daffy duck, the big rooster whatever he was called the drunken horny yokel dog (i loved that cartoon) fuck, even animaniacs was acceptable. Theres always going to be a few decent cartoons (i have actually caught a new batman and its ok) but the majourity nowadays are the equivalent of a turd sandwich, I feel this issue is more pressing than the proliferation of nuclear weapons.

Seriously, you obviously don't remember the 70s and 80s versions of Hanna Barbara and Disney. Those cartoons look like SHIT. SHIIIIIIIT. It offends the eyes.

Like I said it's better not to rewatch old classics because, much like Star Wars, it's not that great... sadly.

because he wears a hat and steals picnic baskets.
Whats not to love, brings snagglepus and topcat to mind as well, they rocked.
How can you even compare some of the modernday tripe to the oldies? its like saying look this dog has no cock and trying to assert it is better than my dog which is in the possession of 2.
powerpuff girls is ridiculously popular, its horseshit, i'll say the same for spongebob and samurai jackoff. channel 4's obligatory "top insert genre and number here" was on a few months back covering cartoons and there was the usual nobodies on actually bigging those shitfests up. why? they're shit. end of.

Ooops, I forgot to mention Futurama! I think it might actually be my TV fav.

Anyways, to those of you who don't like American Dad, I recommend you try again. I thought it was awful when I first watched it, but like most of these shows, it took a little time for the character to come into their own.

@Daq: Oddly enough, Howl's Moving Castle is one of my favorites. Admittedly the plot isn't very well adapted, but the characters are some of Miyazaki's best, as are many of the visuals. I also wouldn't consider Totoro adult-only though (especially since it includes adult themes) so to each his own :o

Another good Anime movie is Grave of Fireflies, but is literally the saddest movie EVER so don't watch it if you like to be happy.

I also have to throw out props to Iron Giant because it's awesome. That's all for now!

The reason older cartoons were more popular is that they remind you of childhood. Whereas ones you watch when older won't...

So there, very psychological.

Futurama is the best show, cartoon or otherwise....period.

Aqua Teen, The Boondocks, Metalocalypse, Family Guy (occationally), Sea Lab 2021 and Venture Bros all rank right up there. Avatar is pretty good, and I've been known to watch some Billy and Mandy and Spongebob. Of course that's usually after smoking and then I usually mute it and listen to music (just watching the crazy shit going on is better than listening to poor dialog).

Naturally that's all 'cartoons', if you're including anime too then you gotta add Bleach, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Death Note and Reign: The Conqueror to that list.

So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."

I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.

BEST MEDIA OF ANY KIND IS THE STUFF YOU WATCHED WHEN YOU WERE TWELVE

Incidentally, Macros, you must not have watched the episodes with the Scotsman in if you think Samurai Jack is worse than, say, Spengbab. Which is still pretty bad.

Also, list is ABYSMAL fail for where Transformers is.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I can't understand why things like Shrek and Toystory are at the top at all. I haven't even heard of Toystory 2 and Shrek 2 was bad...

Strange list.
