OK, the prize situation has become... a little more complicated. Current plan is that the winner will have to answer a question from me (just a factual one, not a quiz, don't worry;)) and this will determine what prizes go where.
There are two prizes, so it's possible second place could also get a prize, though I don't want to get hopes up and then dash them

One down, one to go.

The leader, his audience still,
considered their scholarly will.

and with anguish he said,
"But how will we teach them to kill?"

Certainly, you can post anything you like. The more the better;)
If you finish it a day or so after the deadline, we might still be able to sneak it in, depending on how long it takes for us to get voting organised.

Knowing what the prize is, so as to know if it's worth cramming in some work before the deadline, would be rather helpful.
I have two that are close to being finished, I just need to know if it's worth the bother. Hate to put it that way ... but there are other paintings I could be working on. And if you don't want to give too much away, just PM me.

I don't see any problem with revealing what the prizes are now, it's the final countdown to the deadline. When we can discuss it, we'll post about it

OK, the prizes for the contest are threefold:
Firstly, I've been told that there should be no problem posting the winning entry on the site main page - we will also announce it in the Inn, and no doubt, rep will be forthcoming.
Secondly, from my personal collection, because I'm nice, I have a pristine unread hardcover of The Lees of Laughter's End, the third Bauchelain and Korbal Broach novella by Erikson with an introduction by James Barkley, numbered 282/500, signed by Erikson and James Barkley.
Thirdly, thanks to a recent eBay posting advertised on the board there is a paperback copy of one of Erikson's non-malazan novellas, The Devil Delivered with an introduction by Paul McAuley, numbered 472/500 and signed by Erikson.
If the winner already has, or simply doesn't want, one or both of the books, then it/they will go to the runner up. I'm perfectly willing to pay for postage, but you will have to let me know your address so I can send them!
Hopefully that encourages people, rather than making them not care!!

Well done Brood.
Yeah we hope you guys appreciate the rewards, because we are all going to appreciate your efforts. I think, if anything, having your piece posted on the website for all to see is awesome in itself.
Only a few days left!
