The Deck of Dragons is in flux yet again. Two new Houses have arisen and immediately went to war. High House Decay stuck the first blow against High House Vengeance. Rather than attacking individuals, House Decay showed true cunning by eroding the walls of the House itself. Based in the heart of the Windy City by the Lake, High House Vengeance thought itself immune from attack by physical means. But Our New Tyrannical Overlord Whom We Bow Before had made a mistake, possibly a fatal one: he thought he was above the grand traditions of the Windy City's vast corruption. He refused to pay the kickbacks to the numerous bureaucrats and unions. Matriarch Her Exalted Holiness For I Am Unworthy of High House Decay used her influence to assure that the foundations of the physical manifestation of High House Vengeance were poured using substandard concrete. Additionally she gave the carpenter's contractor a fantastic deal on 'quality' sheetrock sourced from China. The contractor did not care that it contained mold and fungi; Vengeance had paid such a substantial completion bonus that even by doubling their insurance policy, the contractor still cleared an exorbitant profit. Besides, the scabs finishing the basement levels assured him that the cracks in the foundation would collapse the House long before the the fungus would become apparent.
Our new tyrannical overlord whom we bow before is of course furious. He has but one means of defense remaining: to pour his efforts into attacking D'rek herself. But his liquidity is tied up in retrofits, most of his high level staff have bad coughs, and neither of his friends are returning his calls. Vengeance does what he does best, finance and revenge. He places two phone calls the first telling his broker to put everything he has left into default swaps on High House Decay. The second is to his old college buddy Shadowthrone. Promising funds that he knows he does not have, he hires The Rope to 'remove' his D'rek problem. But, yet again, his arrogance gets in the way of practicality. Shadowthrone taking the contract on spec demands the right to sub-contract the job. Vengeance thinks he's getting the best: Cutter and Apsalar. Instead, Scorch and Leff are sent against the might of High House Decay. Their goal is not the death of the Matriarch, but the death of her board of directors. Their elimination would send her stock plummeting and reap Our New Tyrannical Overlord Whom We Bow Before his much needed funds.
Will Rot and Decay hold against the luck of the bumbling assassins?
Don't get your knickers in any knots. That's all just flavour.

Only someone with this much power could make this many frittatas without breaking any eggs.
