The cover art has just been posted on the blog. Since permission was given by the head of Tor Book's art department and since the painting is not even on Todd Lockwood's website yet, I would kindly ask you guys not to post it anywhere else for the time being.

I think this is the only American cover that really rocks!;) Oh, Todd and I are working on a little something that will surely interest most of you. Stay tuned for that. . .;)

You can see the cover for Toll the Hounds on the blog!

What's with the "White" Hound???

Not "The Hounds of Light" anyone?

Christ really need that Prologue...

Edit.. Sorry I started a post on the TtH section, didn't realise that Pat had posted here..

Barathols Axe is described in the prologue of the Bonehunters, he wraps a chain around his arms for support.. Can't be bothered to repost the complete quote.. Mod has deleted it...

Who is the figure in the background. Any guesses? An axe, interesting.

Hmmm. He's got snapped manacles...who was previously being held prisoner?

Geh, I'd give Todd the benefit of the doubt because we haven't read the book yet, but as a cover, its not too promising... another character with a weapon that we don't recognise - reminiscent of the original US art for DhG anyone?

We actually think it is Barathol, Blind and some D'ivers attacking...possibly Ryllandaras(sp?)

It's throws up many questions, and seems quite obscure at the moment. Many seem to think the figure is Barathol, with his axe. It could have worked out fairly well, I feel luckily however the UK versions are ours.

Ok we've got the same discussion going on in two different threads...where is a mod when you need one? ;)

I've deleted the thread in the Reaper's Gale forum as permission to post the cover art hasn't been given yet.

in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

Thanks, Anomander. I'm glad action had been taken, we didn't want to cause Pat any problems.

No worries, guys.

Tor Books were adamant that we wait for 48 hours before posting the cover art, which Todd and I found weird, but what the heck?

No harm done, I'm sure! ;)

Personally, I really like the painting. And it allows us to speculate on the book!!!

So who still can't see it?

Also, Fanderay? Or too houndlike?
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

might as well elaborate on my thoughts.

Barathol

- has an axe (though the depiction isn't quite the same as his axe is described), on his way to Darujhistan, skin colour matches, can't really see if there are or aren't scars.

Blind

- hound of shadow, if I remember right Blind was white furred which would likely be an albino, white fur, red eyes? obviously hounds are getting some involvement =p

Darujhistan burning/Iccys machine

- fire in a city, we know the story heads to Darujhistan this book, we know Iccy had a machine in Darujhistan though all we're expressely told is that it was to measure time, Iccys machine in Letheras created what was described as a sort of white liquid fire on activation, it'd be a great moment to find out that all across Wu there'd been some consequence of what happened in Lether.

Ryllandaras

- desert wolves d'ivers, numbers ranging between 6 and 12+? maybe a bit of a stretch

We have permission sheesh...lol...I'll make Todd give us permission. Like I said as long as we post a link to his website and say its by him we're fine:)
No one ever reads what I write...;)

but on the cover...seriously I usually praise his work but thats just retarded. It kind of like the Bonehunters cover... meh I'll stick to my pretty Bantam covers

this should be interesting though...more hounds and a magical white one...odd

I think that's some new D'ivers we haven't seen yet. Looks a bit like Kilava's Soletaken panther form, not that I'm suggesting it's her.

Jen: Todd wouldn't mind.

It's Tor Books we have to worry about.

Though I figure that once everyone has seen the cover, it won't matter much... ;)
