Lol, yes, Skir, but I've looked at cases of "classic Soletakedness", and involving heredity.
PS: Gruntle didn't turn into a tiger per se--it was just a manifestation of his God's power.
The problem with the gene pool is that there's no lifeguard

So you're also saying that whenever someone acquires the Soletakenness through non-hereditary means, like drinking Tiam's blood, it causes the mutation within them so that they can pass on the newly formed gene?

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Of course, it's just one way to look at things. I just thought it was a good way to explain "soletakeness". Mutation due to something or other having to do with magic. And the genetic thing then explains how some seem to inherit (or not inherit) this ability from their parents.

sounds fine to me. Next question: If you acquire the trait from your parents, how is your alternative form decided? (Evidently dragons seem to make dragons and Jheck make more Jheck, but what about the others? what if Ryllie had a baby?!!!!!)

I would imagine it would have to be an animal/being that one has a close affinity to. So, if one feels wolflike, it would be a wolf; or if one feels all cuddly and soft and likes to f**k a lot, it would be a rabbit. And so on...

Edit: On the other hand, Rud Ellale (? Menandore's son) seemed to get the draconean form from his mother, so perhaps one does not only inherit a soletaken gene, but also the form. Perhaps there is a particular mutation for each form.

Menandore and her birth of her son is special in that not only is she soletaken, she is also draconean and to top it all off, an ascendant being. She said something in the lines of Rud Elales creations being something she designed or controlled.

Iic, she said that she had put a LOT of effort into the birthing... maybe ensuring Rud was draconic required additional effort.

- Abyss, like birth wasn't enough work...

How powerful is Rud? Is he possibly able to reach Rake or Osserc power levels?

Menandore seemed to fear her own sons power, but knew he didn't have the experience needed to be a threat to a "real player". At the same time she didn't think he could take Ruin, so Rake and Osserc are probably also out his league.
