if you mean the 30k(or w.e) Grey Helms, i really dont think that they are recent converts, even if they came about after the swords were wiped, which isnt likely, they were working on a ritual to enter Togg and Fands warren for two years, long enough to be well trained and have some exp.
There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line.
