I hate reading books on the computer. I do love ebooks, though, for reference purposes. But fiction for pleasure, I need a real book.

There's a good used book store in my hometown, but I won't be able to hit it up until December.

Who is talking here about reading on Computer? :p

Just go to your nearest Borders or SonyStyle and have a look at Sony Reader, not because Sony Reader is better/worse than others, but because it will give you a good idea what eInk screen is. It is NOT the same screen as computers have. There is NO backlight that tired our eyes. It is a paperink technology. Doesn't matter what I say here. Just have a look at it.
Let alone that the gadget is small and sleek and cool and no bigger than a thin paper back edition. Let's say as big as Starship Trooper but thinner. You can just curl up in your favorite chair/sofa and enjoy reading or even take it with you to a bathroom if you put it in to a special waterproof bag. There is a guy who takes SR in to swimming pools, drop it to float on a surface while he swims, then reads quietly in the corner with a glass of wine :p

Please, do me a favour. Don't trust me. Just go and have a look at it :p

Well, that requires money. Which I do not have. Which is the whole gist of this conversation. :p

ahem
I is ignorant
"Reality Dysfunction" is just Vol. 1 "Night's Dawn" trilogy, as you would expect.
problem is, certain someone in the mafia forum referred to the whole series unde that name, and I've made a baseless assumption.
so, umm yeah
"Reality Dysfunction", vol. 1 of the Night's Dawn trilogy.
oh, and my RotCG finally came in 3 days ago..

Just bought Eragon by Chrystopher Paolini.

Has anyone else here read it?

I thought it should be quite popular with the movie and all.

AND in your forceful innocence you all believe you're somewhat special. That you're better than the sinners of this world. Well you're not special. Not on my internet ;P

'cept the movies was dire and the book, whilst an ok story (for a generic, plagiarised, at times incoherent blah-fest) got its publicity because the author was 15 when he wrote it (and god does it show)

"Across the face of the World" by Russel Kirkpatrick

i've seen the series several times in various stores, but, as usual, never a volume 1 in sight.
so today, as I walked into the downtown chapters on my way to buy shin pads, and I saw it sitting there, I remembered about my 100 dollar gift card and bought it promptly
it shall now go into my ever-growing "to read" pile.
I'll have a very occupied xmas break, it would seem...

Got a gift card at work on Friday. First things I picked up: Caine Black Knife and The Bonehunters MMPB.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
