It does depend on which version you get; iirc it was split into two for the mass market paperback edition; probably, I suspect, because the length of the thing would have made it a bugger to bind. I personally have the first print UK trade (the one with the Jim Burns cover) which is, as they say, all off a piece.
On topic - I bought Matter by Iain M. Banks last night (the new Culture novel). If you're interested; Waterstones are currently selling the hardback at half price. No idea how long that's going to last; but 9 quid for a new hardback is not to be sniffed at IMO

I've already read house of Leaves, but I wanted to buy the book to support the writer.
I've been dying for Reaper's Gale, and I'm so happy that I finally have it. I was worried that my package was lost in the Canadian post, but it arrived yesterday. Now I can stop harrasing the Canadian and American Postal Services...

I always wondered whether those novellas

are part of Malazan world or just stand alone books by SE? If they are part of Malazan world, do you have to read it or they are sort of separate books and have no influence on the main 10 books?

Picked up Assassins Quest by Robin Hobb... 3rd one, they are pretty good so far... a little less action than I would prefer in a short non-epic jaunt, but better than lots of the crap out there.
Astra: They follow the 2 necromancers... Bauchalin and I forget the other.
They are in the malazan world, I havn't read them so can't say much more about them than that.

They are in the Malazan world but do not take place within the Malazan Empire. If you don't read them you will not become lost in the 10 books. They are fun reads that add bits of info pertaining to the overall series.

Reapers gales arrived in the post, can't wait to get into it, also bought bonehunters just to fill out the series (read it on library loan)
And I bought Generals by simon scarrow before I realised its the sequel to Young Bloods, which I will have to get now before I read Generals

I was going to buy a Neal Asher book, but Forbidden Planet wasn't there and I didn't really have much time. I'll give it a go even though it doesn't overwhelmingly seem my type of thing, I might be pleasantly surprised.

I'm hitting up the book store tomorrow. I'm hoping Joe Abercrombie's Before They are Hanged is out in stores. Sometimes it takes a little longer than when Amazon starts selling it.
