Naomi Novik - Temeraire
( after reading a couple of Tim Powers´ and others novels I have become very hooked on the idea of alternate histories - I think the blend between historic facts, persons and events set in a fantasy plot is just marvellous)

Today was pay-day so I took a stroll down to the bookstore and bought two books I've been wanting to read for quite a while. Scott Lynch - Red seas under red skies and Richard Morgan - Black man.
They'd better be good considering the price for the damn trade paperbacks is about twice that of the mmpb.

Today I went kind of berserk with my credit card, and the result is...
Scott Lynch - "Red Seas under Red Skies"
Brandon Sanderson - "Mistborn: The Final Empire" and "Elantris"
Paul Kearney - "This Forsaken Earth"
Joe Abercrombie - "The Blade Itself" and "Before They are Hanged"
Joan D. Vinge - "The Snow Queen" and "The Summer Queen"
Actually, all I wanted to buy was a funny comic book for a friend's birthday... I swear! But somehow things got out of control...
Well, at least I've got something to read until Christmas...

David Anthony Durham's "Acacia"
(actually, it was a gift, not purchased)
Story sounds fairly standard, but just from what I've heard about the author I am intrigued.
EDIT - DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING!!!!!!!
I finally hit 1,000 posts! Class.

OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Yeah - you might be looking in the wrong place. He was always previously a YAF author as opposed to fantasy, so these were he debut novels in the genre. Not the most outstanding or original books in the world, but good characters, nice plot twists and some real laugh-out-loud moments too

I read Greg Keyes' Waterborn and Blackgod like 10 years ago and at the time I was still a teen, so they were a bit of a hard read for me. I should reread them though. Strange books, but then again if you like a world with really fantasic elements these are probably for you.
I found a used book store nearby and have purchased 100+ books recently.
Average price is $0.75 per paperback and $3-5 for a hardback(US currency).
Best ones I found were:
House of Chains US edition(good, because I have UK version)
Stephen King-Gunslinger and The Stand
Stephen Donaldson- about 10 of his books
Terry Goodkind-All of his(just kidding, I am actually thinking about giving my copies away)
Legends with GRRM, Jordan, King, Feist, Pratchett and others
Gaiman- American Gods
Also found some K. Kurtz, D. Eddings, M. Lackey, T. Hickman, and L.E. Modesitt Jr. that I miiiiiiight read someday.
Lots of other non-fantasy books as well, including an 1880 edition of Charles Dickens' Works.
