I just received today the MMPB of The Aeornaut's Windlass, which I had pre-ordered long ago as a surprise gift to my then-future/now-present self. :Rodeo:

I love when that happens. Past-Me is pretty solidly good at surprising Future/Present-Me. He's a good guy!

Enjoy the book, it's different from the Butcher you've read before, but a solid opening to a new universe.

I'm looking forward to it. Butcher has shown me his versatility with Codex Alera vs Dresden, so I'm excited to see what he does in a steampunk universe.

All this reminds me how much I struggled it. Starts off so fucking epic and then it's grueling till like the last 1/4 or 1/3. Mostly it was disappointing to me compared to Dresden and Alera(Fucking A).

To be fair, Alera 1 was a cliche-ridden farmboy slog that made me abandon the series for a few years. It was only book 2 that turned the series into ASOS on crack.

I love that this isn't a joke. It's totally accurate, and Butcher is a genius!

Going to BAM in a few to get Safehold 4 and possibly this huge omnibus by Nemisan. Never read author but the bk looked cool.

Hundred Thousand Kingdoms? I picked it up awhile back off of great recommendations on the board. I haven't read it yet, but I've went through The Fifth Season on audio and it was very very solid. I can't remember, are you one of the users with an e-reader? If so, the omnibus seems to go on sale pretty often for dirt cheap.

I might have to grab the basic pack for $5. Definitely looks interesting!

Sadly it does not contain the very best book that Haikasoru has released (THE STORIES OF IBIS)...but that's a pretty solid bundle!

I've read Harmony by Project Itoh, which was solid, but not great, a mixed bag but worth reading if one wants to look into something new and doesn't ind the odd weaker moment. I might just get the bundle just to get Genocidal Organ.

I did grab the $5 Japanese StoryBundle, on account of it looking pretty neat.

There's a new StoryBundle up for historical fantasy: https://storybundle.com/fantasy

Can anyone make a recommendation on any of these? 5 books for $5 is always awfully tempting...

Needed some urban so downloaded The Rook.

Seems promising so far!
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

coldfire 1,2,3
half a king
hearts of stone (scarrow, ww2, I liked all his other stuff so thought why not)
Brewers Rogues, Villans and Eccentrics

I think Elaine was the one who wrote one of the most hated NJO or SW in general. I didn't mind it near as bad other people.

That was DARK JOURNEY, was a Jaina-centric one that I recal having liked. Anyways, this one seems like fun clasical fantasy in the RPG mode...so I figured, why not?

Yesterday I bought Brent Weeks' The Way of Shadows for the train ride to and fro my parents. I finished it earlier this evening. It was pretty decent.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

I am fairly new to reading fantasy and sci fi. I somehow stumbled upon Gardens of the Moon a few months back and have fallen in love with the Malayan series (I'm only on House of Chains). Ive been trawling through the threads on here and have so far put together a to read list of about 300 books....

Anyway, today I went mental as its payday and bought:

Dresden files book 4 (am just reading book 3 now)
Return of Crimson Guard
Stonewielder
Orb, Sceptre, Throne
John Dies at the end
Perdido Street Station
Hyperion
Consider Phlebas
Midnight Tides
Bonehunters

I will likely go as mental next month so if there are any 'must read ASAP's' not listed above please let me know! As I say I'm quite new to the SF/fantasy genres (So far in my catch up to read as much as I can I have read Discworld 1-3, Greatcoats 1 and 2, currently reading Dune).

Many Thanks!!
