Comes best after a forearm block that leaves you somewhat closer to the ground that usual. Feint with the shoulder and then bam.

Interesting.

Briefly back on topic, bought Firefight by Sanderson.

I say this every time he publishes a book, but DAMN he writes fast.
I still maintain there are 3/4 Brandon Sandersons (a real life Jamie Madrox if you like X-Men) minimum to maintain his pace.

Shuriken don't have to be throwing stars. ANY concealed hand held throwing object is a shuriken.

Common knowledge..The book industry cloned Sanderson, its a tactic to get their other writers to go quicker/stay on schedules. Replacements can happen.

I've never had an issue with Amazon's customer service, you should be good.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

not so much bought as received on Christmas day:

Secrets of Kalis Illustrisimo
Wado Ryu Karate
The Secret Royal Martial Arts of Ryukyu
Research of Martial Arts

My hobbies are showing....

On a personal note, bought and started The Relic Guild by Edward Cox - enjoying it too.

you should get some books on martial arts I think. You'd like those.

Pre-ordered Providence of Fire and Touch (new book by Claire North) and borrowed the audiobook of the Pale King by David Foster Wallace from my local library. And I bought the Goblin Emperor.

I bought Hunter's Run by Martin/Abraham/Dozois and Summer of Night by Dan Simmons at a Goodwill. Then I went to the library and bought Kidnapped by RL Stevenson and The Outsider by Richard Wright. Sweet used book haul.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Let me know what you think about these. I picked them both up on the clearance rack for a buck or two each on a whim a while back, and haven't gotten around to them yet. (I realize that that description holds for a couple hundred of my books, but still...)

Will do. Dunno when I'll fit them in, but the Simmons will probably come sooner than the other one as I genre-hop into a horror kick next.

Sorry to drag this mildly off topic, but every time I see the name Simmons, I think of maroon armour and the phrase "Oh, you backstabbing cockbite".

BTT: No purchases today but once I get paid I'm thinking to pick up Ben Galley's 'The Written' and then PVB's 'The Daylight War'. PVB would be the main one here being that ' The Skull Throne' is having a UK tour to accompany the release.

Recently picked up The Deed of Paksenarrion due to (a) the recent discussion here, (b) Stover's Caine-vs-Paks story from a while ago, and (c) the fact that I'm a sucker for big omnibus editions.

Also found Kay Kenyon's A World Too Near on the clearance rack for $2, so that I now own all but the third book in that series.

Ordered Abnett's SALVATION'S REACH as one of the books I'm taking on vacation in Feb...I'm a little sad because it means that I'm caught up with Abnett's Gaunt's Ghost's series (which is one of my faves!) and I'll then have to wait till Summer for WARMASTER to release.

I'm both super excited to read it...and a little melancholy to have caught up.

Memory of Light, Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson.

I'm surprised that the book is much better than Jordan on his own or Sanderson on his own. Although, in Mr. Sandersons' defense I will say that he's grown quite a bit as an author over the years. My first impression of him wasn't bad, but wasn't memorable either. Jordan just lost me around book nine, but since I was going on vacation I figured I'd finish out the series. A worthwhile read all in all.
